MLM Truths That You Should Know

by Bree Knknown

People that choose the path of making money outside of the job usually become intrigued with MLM and what it promises to give them. What is MLM? Although there are so-called pyramids schemes out there, MLM or Multi Level Marketing is a business model that is quite different. People that sell products in this type of company not only make a commission, but they make it possible for the person that recruited them to make one too. Essentially, you make a commission when someone you hire makes a sale, just like the person above you made a commission when you sold a product. It is important that you are careful, however, especially when promises of cash flow come your way. On that same note, let's discuss a few things about MLM that you might find disturbing.

One of the most exaggerated lies that MLM people will use when they want you to work under them is that you can use your extra time to sell products. If that really were true, the MLM market would actually be exploding instead of dying.

If the premise behind the business model worked properly, this might be a plausible idea. After all, you're supposed to hire other people to do the work so that you can earn money from their efforts. But, the problem is that most of the time spent is hiring other people and no one is really promoting products. Also, you cannot earn a good living in your spare time. Doing a good job will take time, effort and commitment.

One of the reasons that MLM often seems so tempting is because it looks like a system in which you do not have to do a lot of work. Obviously, you have to get new people and sell merchandise at first. But, if you get the right people who know what they are doing, you can let them recruit people while you sit back and get paid. This seems like a plan, right? Simply put, it is not that easy to get skilled people to work on your down line. You need to train them. You need to pick people who won't bail when they figure out what a scheme they've become a part of. You have to give them some reasons to continue working with you. A business cannot be profitable if there is no work involved. Keep this in mind.

An incredibly popular lie often told by MLM business owners is that it doesn't take long for the products sold through multi level marketing to make their ways into regular retail stores. Sadly, the real truth is that the high-volume of product sold through most MLM companies is actually purchased by the people in the company trying to sell it to family and friends. For the most part, most MLMers lose their shirts because they end up trying to peddle merchandise that they purchase to retail stores on consignment, usually for a complete loss. For many years, MLM has been strongly associated as being useless for the vast majority of people. Yet, there are always a fresh stream of newbies to lure into it and so it manages to survive. These people lose a lot of money, end up discouraged and decide that every form of online sale or shopping is fraudulent. Take note of this article and don't become one of those people.
