Is It Smart To Share Your Marketing Knowledge?

by Ryan Martin

Anyone looking to make a name for themselves online or offline should pay close attention here because teaching what you know to others is the quickest way to brand yourself as a leader in your niche.

The cool thing is if you start to share everything you learn, then you will automatically start to learn better because you know that you are going to have to teach the same information to others.  Not to mention that when you do in fact teach the information it will sink in and you will understand it on a deeper level.

Is It Wrong To Teach A Concept You Got From Another Person?

When I first came online I remember thinking that if I took an idea from someone else and taught it that it would be like stealing or plagiarizing.  It isn't right to take an idea from someone and not give them credit, and it is bad to copy things exactly without putting it into your own words.   On the other hand, if you learn and truly grasp a strategy or technique and then put it into your own words and you give credit to the person you learned it from then there is nothing to worry about.

One thing you will notice about all the gurus and teachers is that they are pretty much teaching the same information, the only difference is the way they teach it.  That is why it is so important that you add your "flavor" to the information that you are sharing, otherwise it is just the same ideas and concepts being recycled again and again.

Why Share What You Learn?

The quickest and most effective way to position yourself as a leader and someone who knows what they are talking about, is to share the concepts that you have learned.  You will not only be adding value to people's lives, but you will also be branding yourself as a leader or teacher.  This is a very powerful technique to give value and position yourself as a leader.

Another reason to share what you learn is simply because it is natural.  It is natural to give when you receive, or to teach what you have learned that has helped you.  It is unnatural to continue learning new concepts and new things without teaching them or giving back.  Compare it with breathing, do you think it is natural to keep inhaling without ever exhaling?  Of coarse not, that is why it is natural and beneficial to both you and everyone else that you learn and then share.

Once you get into the flow you can "capture" a concept, put it into your own words and then "release" it without any hesitation.  The funny thing is that most people (including me) think that they can store ideas and concepts in their head for future use.  The problem with this philosophy is that pretty soon your mind will be bogged down by all of these concepts and ideas that you haven't yet shared.

What To Share And How To Share It

Anything that you have learned that has brought value to your life will most likely bring value to another person's life as well.  With that being said you could share any concept that you have learned in a book, life experience or seminar.  There really are no rules when it comes to sharing you marketing knowledge.  In fact, it doesn't even have to be marketing knowledge it could be something along the lines of personal development.  The key is to share things that will bring value to other people's lives.

When you communicate a concept you have the unique ability to get through to people in a way that no one else can.  The more people's lives you impact in a positive way the more money and the more success you will have.

The power of the internet has made it possible for any individual to have an impact on many people's lives.  We can communicate our message with people from all around the world, all from the comfort of our own home.  So give value back to the market place, it doesn't matter what the information is as long as it is helpful to other people.
