Tips To Use High Tech Methods To Halt Termites In Their Tracks

by Stewart Wrighter

The problem with living in amongst nature, as most of us do, is that there are little creatures that are always standing in the wings ready to munch away at the fabric of the building. Indeed, many of them are undetectable to the naked eye but if the person knows what they are looking for, they may just find some evidence around the place. There are experts in this field who can come in and deal with the problem very easily but they should be compared with others who offer similar services. Try looking for termite control operatives online to see who has the most modern methods available. Indeed, termite pest control is has become high tech these days so it is well worth taking a look.

Most people will know the usual methods of eradicating these creatures. This entails digging a deep trench around the building and pouring in some rather toxic chemicals to try to put up a barrier between the creature and the food source which is usually the house itself. However, this obviously does not work when the building is in the city or otherwise has some historical value to it.

These days there is a good way of ensuring that the building itself is not damaged, or the grounds that surround it. It entails sinking in some long tubes into the ground at regular intervals around the whole building and putting on a removable cap. Inside the tubes is a feeding station where the bait is laid. An operative will monitor these feeding stations and, with the aid of a hand held computer, keep track of which bait is being eaten and which is not.

Obviously, those tubes which are seeing action will be monitored more closely since this is the track that the insects are using. To understand this, one would have to know something of the behavior of these creatures.

The nest can lie several hundred meters away from the food source, that is, the building that it wants to invade. Within the nest is the queen who is the only one who will produce young. The workers and scouts will provide food for her since she never leaves the nest.

When the workers and scouts find a good food source, they lay down scent trails for following creatures to find where to get food instead of building more tunnels. Indeed, it is this habit which is their demise in the end. After eating the poisoned bait, they take some back for the other workers and the queen who will eventually die. When she dies, the whole colony will die too since no new babies are born to replace others who have died.

This system is now being used all over the states and can be seen around historical buildings everywhere. The tubes stay in situ for the foreseeable future in case there is another outbreak sometime later. With this in mind, everyone should take a look and see if this cleaner and greener method can get rid of these creatures for good.
