Yoga Classes: A Personal Account

by Summer Mendies

Hi everyone, I'm Danielle and 25 years ago I signed up for my first Yoga Classes and I'm here to share with you about my experiences during the classes that I have joined in the last 25 year period where I hope you can understand how much it has assisted me. 25 years ago I was in my teens and my whole shape as well as my body was much more accommodating and also robust. I used to be in our cheer squad on our state university, so certainly I was very at ease with my figure and thought that sitting down in a room packed with people and meditate would be so monotonous. Yet my mom, who had been a super Yoga Classes lover, told me to join, so I did. I was extremely stunned to discover that I truly loved it and after a short 3 month period I considered myself being an expert since I learned all of the postures with comparable ease and I had better form than others in my class (if I do say so myself) but I realized soon enough that the things I knew was only a portion of the entire picture.

Approximately 18 years ago I registered with aerobics classes which really assisted me keep my shape after giving birth to my 2 great children. Yet, previously I realized that I had problems with my bones and problems such as sciatica, herniated disc as well as other back issues so eventually my active lifestyle was reduced to just doing house chores and walking the dog once in a while. I felt useless and unloved at some point or another but I knew that I just needed to get back in form and back in my regular exercise routine when I was younger, but then my vitality would keep dropping. So my children, now in their early teens, bought me 5 video tapes about Yoga Classes which I truly loved and brought back all those super fun memories, it was fun but it eventually got boring and my interest in doing the Yoga Classes slowly faded until I heard an ad on the radio, where a yoga studio was offering classes, and I knew I just need to register - so I did!

My yoga trainer is young, energetic and not to mention very enthusiastic. I was immediately attracted to her when we started. She described how in her Yoga Classes we will be focusing on the positions, concentrating on every detail, but not only that we'd also be concentrating on the mind as well. We used props just like a yoga ball and yoga blocks that aided us with all the postures that were hard on our rigid bodies but I was happy, discouraged at times, but contented.

I felt better: My body and physique was better, I dropped 2 dress sizes, and I was also much gigglier. I moved much better; I socialized more and moved a lot as well. Basically, my self confidence came back, something which has been on a vacation for over a decade. Thank you Yoga Classes you helped bring my well being back.
