Finger Foods Children Will Enjoy
One of the greatest ways to help children increase their appreciation for certain foods that are healthy is to make finger foods for them. A great deal too many children are in the habit of eating junk food, merely because they are easy to eat, and fun as well. Why not teach your little ones how to make some fun finger foods on their own, instead of allowing them to develop harmful eating habits? Even if your kid is too young to help make these snacks on their own, they can still enjoy eating them. You're even likely to find that you will like eating these creative and yummy snacks as well. Take a look at these tips to help inspire your creativity when it comes to cooking.
Yummy Carrot and Celery Munchers
Even boys and girls who claim that they are not a fan of greens will like these yummy crunchy snack sticks. Begin by washing carrots and celery stalks. Peel, and then cut into easy to grip strips. Children often like these most if they are long and narrow. If your child really dislikes carrots or celery, you can substitute with any other raw and crispy vegetable that they do like. Collect a variety of smaller sized clean plastic containers, maybe something like yogurt containers or small Dixie cups. Add some kind of dipping sauce or a sprinkle into each separate cup. To name a few examples, fruity yogurt, crunchy peanut butter, sugar-free jam, raisins, apple butter, soybeans, and sesame seeds are all great choices which are both nutritious and yummy. Your little one can dip the veggie stick into a dipping sauce, then into one of the sprinkles. The end result is a delicious snack which is fun to eat and healthy. Take some photos of your children making and eating their nutritious creations, placing them in picture frames for kitchen decorations.
Cracker Creatures
If your child is amused by insects, making these cute but somewhat creepy cracker critters will be a lot of fun. Start by distributing peanut butter on some round snack crackers, topping them off with a second cracker. Get a hold of some red licorice laces, and then slice them into lengths long enough to make legs on the crackers. Your kid will pull off the top cracker, and then position the licorice pieces in the peanut butter to make legs. Next, they can put back the top cracker to form the creature. So make sure the licorice lace sections are cut long enough so they can be assembled correctly. Also supply a small bowl of peanut butter along with some raisins, little chocolate chips, sunflower seeds, or perhaps other small goodies that can serve as the creature's eyes. Present these materials to your child, and let the fun begin. Take some snap shots of the most inventive critter cracker constructions, since these can be very fun to exhibit in picture frames.
Crouton Creations
Even a standard bag of regular bread croutons can provide hours of entertainment for a child. By using these little cubes as construction bricks, he or she can use peanut butter "mortar" to make spectacular but also edible architectural masterpieces. When finished, your child can either eat the results, or simply leave it out on display for all to admire. Don't forget to take some snap shots of the end result, and then put them on display on your child's bedroom walls in some picture frames to remind them of their fun time building with bread.
Once your children try out these fun goodies, they will not simply enjoy healthy snacks, but have a good time eating them too.
