Where To Send Your Affiliate Website Traffic

by Jeff Schuman

My favorite way to make money from home is affiliate marketing. However, just like any business model you need to be smart about how you promote your products.

One question that does come up almost every day is where you should send your affiliate website traffic. In most situations you want to send it to a website of your own before you send it to your affiliate website.

Here are a few reasons for that.

1. Landing page. Because most people do not make a purchase the first time they see your product, it's important to follow up with them until they are ready to buy.

The proven strategy to do this is to promote a landing page, or as it is sometime times called a splash page. This should be tied back to an autoresponder where you can capture your prospects name and email address.

I personally like to use Aweber. One of the reasons for this is they make creating a landing page very easy to do. They offer many templates that you can customize and it doesn't take any technical experience.

2. Review web page. This is another strategy that works well.

You write a personal review of the product you're selling. Of course to do this you will need to purchase the product and learn everything about it, but it will help you write a better review.

You promote the review page and people read your review before they click a link that sends them your affiliate sales page. The review should be objective and contain both positives and negatives about the product you are selling.

3. Facebook page. Do you have a business page on your Facebook account for the product you are trying to make money with?

Social media is becoming an excellent source of website traffic. Creating a business page that people can learn about your products ion is another way to pre-sell them.

Social media also continues to be a great way to build relationships with potential customers. Facebook does have paid advertising as well where you can promote either your landing page or Facebook business page.

4. Website home page. Some people will promote their website homepage in all of their advertising because they have a lead capture form in a prominent place where they can build their list.

The main advantage to doing this is you can also generate traffic from your about us page, your blog, or any other page they visit. Many people find it easier to just promote one webpage and build as much traffic to it. Then let people find their way around at their own leisure.

In summary, you are better off to send your affiliate website traffic to a landing page, review page, Facebook business page, or your website home page. Once you have a chance to warm your prospective customer up you can then pass them through to your affiliate sales page.
