The Truth About Breathing

by Garrick Breaux

It is true that we have to breathe in order to live. Breathing is the one most important part of our existence on this earth. Let's face it, if you don't breathe you don't live. The longer you breathe the longer you live. I know that this sounds crazy, but it is the truth. For instance, if I asked you how long can you hold your breath before you stop breathing could you tell me. Let's hope you cannot tell me because if you knew the answer you certainly would not be able to tell me.

The fact is that the average person takes in about 21,600 breaths per day. The body requires 88 pounds of oxygen per day. Oxygen is the most important chemical in the body. Without oxygen you would not be here. The body removes its waste products by breath, skin, urine, and feces.

When a person is sighing or yawning, it is clearly a sign that your body is not getting enough oxygen. Oxygen depletion affects our brain in a couple of ways. Our short-term memory and focus are very important for us. Out of all the oxygen that our bodies take in, our brains requires at least 25%.

Typically when breathing we use two methods. The first method is abdominal breathing or deep breathing. The other method is chest or shallow breathing. A child naturally uses abdominal breathing while most adults use chest or shallow breathing.

On a serious note, the way we breathe affects more things than most people realize today. Having effective breathing techniques is the key especially for people who suffer from shortness of breath or breathing disorders.

Not breathing properly can cause a number of things, such as anxiety disorders, depression, irritability, muscle tension, headaches, poor concentration, fatigue, irritable bowel and digestive disorders. Some people also suffer from asthma and sleep apnea. These are very serious conditions that if not tended to could be fatal. The one that really alarms the public is high blood pressure. Yes, not breathing properly affects our blood pressure as well.

The most annoying sleep disorder is snoring. This is a problem for mostly everybody these days. Snoring problems has been link to some couples break up. I know it sounds funny but it is the truth. I fact I had this problem until I got the right help for it.

The key to having the best breathing technique is to develop a better breathing habit. Due to the fact that I know people who suffer from a lot of these symptoms, I wanted to find the most cost efficient way for them to get help.
