Things To Avoid That Can Torpedo Your Design Project
Clients have to say it all when they have to get their projects developed from a web designing and development company. They are the only witness when as a web designer you take decision and take actions on those decisions. But as a service provider you can take it as an attempt to sort out mistakes and remove the likelihood of its containment in the project. As a business owner, you know what it takes to create a website and what are the processes to its development and why some of their decisions may cause havoc to the website and give less stellar result for their business and its potential to succeed.
Let's take a look that you need to avoid and protect your website designing project from ruining;
Designing it Yourself - If your client has hired you for his project, he trust you. It does not mean that you stop listening to your client completely and don't take his views and suggestions seriously. After all what you are working religiously on is not yours and you will ultimately have to hand over it to the client. So you must listen properly to what client says and work by incorporating his ideas. Better way is to ask your “graphic artist” for an opinion if you do not want to blindly follow their instructions. In between ready to take feedback from your clients while the designing process is on. Only this way your client will be happy and satisfied and would like to maintain long term relationship with you.
Not Establishing Communication with them and Communicating Right – The project lead should be in regular communication with your client and carrying the changes simultaneously if client asks to do so. It is quite probable that a designer has to handle several projects at a time and therefore it is likely to happen that sometimes project management team is not available to attend client's queries. Ensure such things never happen in your case, as your being professional is must and this does not leave good impression on your client about you.
Not Listening to your Client and obeying them – Honesty is best policy and is important too if you want your website project to succeed. Tell your client that particular suggestion will not work good for his/her website if you think so. Tell them that you strongly dislike their ideas, rather having your project developed in a way that neither you nor client would be satisfied in the end. It is always better to get feedback from your client in the early phase of your project and get initial phase of the project design-proof by them, as it will not create the hassles of making repeated changes into it and letting you waste extra time and energy of yours and your team member. This is a key to ensure that your designed project matches the client's expectations.
Less Focus on the right content for client's website – It is likely to happen that being a designer, you may not produce the quality and right piece of content for the client's website. Good way is to hire an expert to get this job done from your end or if you want to do it yourself, take a look at the client's old website (if he/she had one) for an assistance, that would work in your favor. Be sure that content used should be very prompt and not the one recycled, and not be an after thought.
