Having a mailing list of your own is a gold mine for every marketer. It's the ultimate weapon; it has a weight of gold. The same mailing list will be the ones where you send your email out; emails which sends them valuable information about your product and service. It captures the name and email address information of anyone who buys or shows interest in your product or service.
There are several ways to build your mailing list. The most common and less expensive is collecting them yourself. Of course, those who purchase your product would have their emails stored so that they too can receive updates on your software or program, and other promos. In your email, a sales pitch is directed towards the other marketer's website while in his email, a sales pitch is directed to your site. Another way to build a list is to rent or purchase it from other marketers. There are those who are in business of collecting emails and then selling it to those who are interested. This is not very much advisable though because of the variety of potential customers in the list. Unless if you rent or purchase it from a marketer under a similar niche as yours, the list you would have rented or purchase might contain random emails who are less likely interested in your product and service. Oftentimes, they would regard you as a spammer because of sending unsolicited emails they have not subscribed for.
When you send out your emails, remember to stay away from spamming. Sure you have a great number of "house list" but if most of them would barely open your email or even tag you as a spammer, everything would just be a waste of time and effort. What is spamming? The dictionary defines spamming as the sending of unsolicited bulk e-mail received by multiple recipients often at one time.
The best way to avoid being tagged as a spammer is to send regulated emails with the right timing. Plus, your unsubscribe button should work so that those who would not want to receive your emails can opt out. Also, it is better if the potential clients can have an option as to what type of emails they would want to receive from you. This way, you would have a better picture and would be able to determine which ones are in it for valuable information only, or which ones are very interested in the product or service.
