Exploring the Castle in Edinburgh to The Rosslyn Chapel, hiking and skiing, Scotland offers all these adventures and more. This lovely country offers, excitement, adventure or just a relaxing weekend away for people of all ages. Scotland lends itself to outdoor pursuits and will not disappoint

Hikers can enjoy some of the most fascinating trails found in the United Kingdom. Along the Dalbeattie to Colvend Trail, which is a trail that runs through Dalbeattie Forest, hikers can take in the breathtaking scenery and view the local wildlife. Other outdoor pursuits for activity seekers in Scotland can include salmon fishing to a chilly but exhilarating surfing.

Scotland is famous for its salmon fishing, and tourists will have no problems finding fishing lessons in such places as Grantown, Aviemore or Boat O Garten. This quaint, little country is also known for having some of the greatest surfing in all of Europe, and surfers will find the best breaks along the coasts between Edinburgh and Eyemouth. For travellers, visiting in the winter and looking forward to skiing, Scotland offers a vast array of luxury hotels with skiing nearby.

Travellers can find some of the greatest skiing in Scotland, in such places as Cairngorm, Glenshee, Nevis Range, Glencoe and the Lecht. The vast amount of historic heritage sites provides a vast array of activities for sight seeing visitors. Located in Roslin (Midlothian) is the site of the Rosslyn Chapel. This chapel, founded in 1446, was frequently visited by many famous people over the centuries including Mary-Queen of Scots, Queen Victoria, William Wordsworth and Sir Walter Scot.

The Rosslyn Chapel was also the chapel that was in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. The Castle in Edinburgh, is a famous landmark of note, particularly because it sits on a dormant volcano. David I built the castle in the 12th century, and it was the birthplace of both James VI of Scotland, and James I of England. Visitors can easily get to Edinburgh Castle from any of the many luxury hotels in Scotland, and some of these hotels even offer magnificent views of the castle.

Other historical landmarks include the Castle at Stirling and in Skara Brae there is the Neolithic Village. Stirling Castle, which visitors can find on the battlefield where the famous William Wallace defeated the English in 1297, has the largest banquet hall found in Scotland. Discovered in 1850 and at the time, the oldest in western Europe The Neolithic Village in Skara Brae was discovered just North of Kirkwall.

The wonderful and mysterious country of Scotland offers an adventure to all people of any age. There is no better time of the year to visit Scotland, each season heralds another adventure. From hiking and skiing to exploring Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Castle, tourists will enjoy in the many delights of this country
