Don't Get Caught Short This Christmas

by Tracey England

There are not many more sleeps left to go before the big event of the year - Christmas is nearly upon us! With so many Christmas gifts to buy, the number of pop-up' Christmas markets that appear in many towns and cities around the country can inspire unique and different gifts away from the norm.

Many of the stalls that make up the Christmas markets are from individual people who have their own products being made on a small, cottage industry style format. It's great being able to find gifts for family and friends, but another wonderful thing about these open air markets is the wide array of Christmas based food and drinks that lots of the stalls make and sell.

It's impossible to walk around without being tempted by the smells of warm mince pies or hot glass of gluwein. This originates from Germany and is very similar to our own mulled wine, containing a mixture of red wine, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices all gently warmed through to retain the full alcohol content but give the drinker a warm Christmassy feeling inside.

The problem with all these temptations is when nature calls and you need to relieve yourself, there always seems to be a definite lack of public toilets. It appears that the local authority budget cuts in public amenities are a direct result of the recession and demands on finance from other more urgent services. However, when you're in an unfamiliar town and need a toilet, it's no compensation that public amenities budgets have been cut!

Local pubs and cafes have also become stricter about the people using their facilities without paying for food or drinks served by the establishment. These problems have increased the need for portable urinating devices for women. These portable devices also solve the problem of hygiene in many public or pub toilets and finally allow women to urinate whilst standing up.

For most men the lack of public toilets isn't an issue when out and about, especially if they need to go less often. However, for an increasing number of men in the UK male urinary incontinence is becoming an all too familiar medical problem. For men suffering from incontinence, they can suffer just the same as women if there aren't an adequate number of public conveniences.

For men with either partial loss of bladder control or more severe continuous bladder leakage, then the portable male urinary incontinence devices now available from pharmacists or through the internet can mean the difference between feeling housebound and having the freedom to carry on with an active and outgoing lifestyle.
