Starting A Home Based Business? : Scams, Scamsters and the Like!

by Victor Bauza

When searching for the right Home Based Business, the list can be full of all types of characters. Let's face it! We can't help but be lured by promising lines that flash across the monitor with vivid colors promising us with a terrific turnover for a home based business done online. Then Buyer Beware!

Earn money from home via online business? If it's money we want, and who doesn't- most hardworking and not so hard working people cannot but help take a stab at an offer, that too, a highly attractive one offering them the world! All that's fine, maybe genuine too. But how can you determine that? How can you know that this would give you even one-fourth of all that it says this home based business is. They come packaged in attractive colors, designs, as visually appealing flashy messages. To know if this is wolf in sheep's clothing or sheep in wolf's attire, there are a couple of things you need to be aware of:

The Fake: Disguised in fine print and an attractive font, these messages ask you to deposit a fair amount to get that high paid online business.

In Real: "These guys are really shrewd", says Christine Durst, an internet fraud expert. "They know that most people do not read the entire print before they sign on the dotted line, and proceed for a free registration which actually isn't free."

The Maneuver Move: Read the print completely, do not miss a spot. Forget all those flashy colors. They are a clever distraction. Cross check with tineye.com a website that looks up for identical photos. If the same people advertise on a number of sites sites like 'tineye' can tell you if you are up against an online business scam.

The Fake: Affirming a pay-check of a hefty amount in a day for registering and writing- for starting a home based business, writing for their blog, with a target to meet.

In Real: These scammers give you an unattainable target. It may seem easy to meet but practically difficult to maintain a minimum requirement. A majority of people would drop the job owing to the difficulty of meeting the requirement. And of course there's usually a certain amount of money you would have deposited with them by then, that's going to go down the drain.

Your Maneuver Move Should Be: Contact the responsible person and hash things out before you sign up for such projects. Clear all doubts and find all possible loop holes to avoid. You are the one that's going to make or lose money, so ask the questions, and lots of them too. It requires your time and effort to build an effective online business. Do not share your bank details with anyone unless you are sure it is safe to accept the offer.

The Fake: Attractive designs that captivate the eyes with various offers and schemes to start an online Multi Level Marketing Business.

In Real: They lure people into believing what's not true. The offers and catchy statements divert us from catching the essential points that should be given by the company for their promotions; like for instance, the contact details of the company, the product being promoted, the details of work that should be delivered by you, the company website for contact etc.

The Maneuver Move: Research for the company name. Get all the details that are essential. Find out who are the people responsible for this job and ensure you know just exactly what you will be working on. Have them give your time and work in written either through mail or post. Make sure to clearly discuss payment terms and rates, and explore how the incentives will improve in the long term. Accept only IF satisfactory. Say 'NO', if they do not meet your criteria. Do not consent to send money by any means.
