Causes of Acne

by Cory Bridgewater

People from every age group, from shortly after birth to the elderly, can be affected by acne outbreaks. There are many facts and myths associated with the factors that can cause acne breakouts. The following paragraphs will discuss some of the causes of acne, and how to help treat pimples and acne.

Medically speaking, anyone who gets acne, no matter their age, has a combination of elements working in unison. One or more of these said elements can promote the inflammatory response on our skin that we know as acne. Some of these elements include:

• Increased oil • Trapped bacteria under the skin • Keratosis retention

Increased oil can be caused by factors such as make up, but is often produced by the sebaceous glands. Sometimes these glands have an increased production of oil, thus causing acne and pimples. Retention of keratosis can also cause excess oil. This happens when skin cells that are not shed properly block sebaceous ducts that get rid of excess oil.

Commonly, acne occurs mostly during the teenage years, but can really appear at any age. The teenage years are prime years to get acne because of the increased activity in hormone processes within the skin. Whether it is a teen affected by acne, or an adult, it is a fact that hormones play an active part in acne.

Male hormones are more likely to increase in oil production than female hormones are. Although male hormones have a greater effect, some male and female hormones are very similar in their structural configuration. Therefore, when hormones are released during a woman's menstrual cycle, hormones similar to male hormones cause increased oil gland activity. As a result, some women who are menstruating run a higher risk of getting pimples, or acne, during their menstrual cycle.

Although acne affects many people, there are treatments and cures that many people have found effective. One old myth claims that spending excessive amounts of time in the sun will clear up acne, but that myth has been medically proven to be untrue. Many doctors now claim sunlight does not help acne, but on the contrary, could make pimples and acne worse. Sunlight can actually boost production of your skins oils that can make acne outbreaks worse. A small amount of sunlight is healthy, but sun screen should always be applied.

Although there are some treatments for acne that are myths, there are also some very effective treatments that really do work including:

• over the counter methods • prescription methods • Zeno Acne Device Over the counter acne medications often come in the form of facial cream and scrubs, and are not always effective for the more severe cases of acne. In the case of severe acne, the best acne treatment should come from a physician. However, with new technology, acne can now be effectively treated by the Zeno Acne Device.

The Zeno Acne Device is a portable, battery operated, electronic device that has been clinically proven to help fight pimples and mild to moderate acne fast. This portable Zeno device is designed to be hand held, and is proven to be one of the most effective ways to treat acne without a prescription.
