Poker with Friends
Poker can be one of the best community activities ever. Think about it, bunch of friends, playing poker together, enjoying the thrill, the fun and the excitement of the game, laughing, drinking a beer or two and just celebrating the happiness of friendship together.
One of the most popular social gambling activities is a game of poker among friends. What made poker such an important part of the American social life? Well, the qualities of this game allow the players to engage in a social activity, to talk and discuss about their life and other non-poker related issues and at the same time to enjoy a nice exciting game of poker. Obviously the chance to earn few bucks from this fun activity is a plus too. It's very easy to break the Ice when you're playing poker with people you're not familiar with. Friends' poker, unlike serious tournament poker, is not a game of high money stakes, so it's always fun, even if you play it with people that you don't know too well. In few minutes of play the walls start to crumble, the players start to laugh, to enjoy the bets, the excitement and the action. Ask any avid poker player and he will tell you that nothing can't beat the feeling of a good poker game among friends.
Poker is also a great way to meet new people. Most people have the same friends that they usually play with, but sometimes new people join the game. One of the players asks a friend from work or the neighbor from across the street, and new people join the fun in the poker rooms. This could be quite helpful sometimes. I've heard about cases where people that I met during poker games helped other people they played poker with to find new jobs, to search for new cars or to get advices in all sorts of issues. Actually, one of the biggest advantages of a social gathering like this is the opportunity to enjoy so many perspectives on life. My poker partners come from a range of social places, they work in all sorts of jobs and they have many different outlooks about life. I have met businessman, bank managers, engineers, shoe salesmen, school teachers and others during my friends' poker sessions, and I enjoyed their own views about the world, listened to their tips and advices, and gather so much useful information. It's always been an important part of the poker gathering for me, personally.
If you don't want to play poker as a way of making a living but just a cool hobby that you enjoy from time to time, here are some things that you should do in order to form a group of friends for the game: The most important thing, obviously, is to find good friend to play with. If you already have friends with experience in the game, ask them to come over and play with you, their experience can help and their advices could be useful. If you have friends who like to try and play but never really played it with others, it's also ok. Poker isn't the hardest game to play, so everyone can learn the rules in a short time. The most important thing is only to invite friends that you enjoy their company. As we all know, there are people who cannot really cope with losing a game, so it won't be a smart move to invite such people to your social party gathering.
The second thing is to prepare a good gaming environment. If the games will be held in your house, make sure that no one disturbs you and your friends, put some beers or other cold beverages in the fridge and also prepare some snacks for the players to bite while playing.
When everything is ready, invite your friends and enjoy the ultimate social fun- a great game of poker with friends!
