Auto Insurance Questions - Answers to Common Auto Insurance Questions

The Truth About Automobile Insurance

by David Ackland

Q: I have several auto insurance questions I hope you can answer. Can my insurance go up if I was hit in an accident? If it does what do I do? Is there a review or complaint process? Thanks for the help.

A: We’ll be happy to answer your auto insurance questions, that’s what we are here for.

Your insurance should not go up if you were not at fault in the accident you were involved in. There may be some delay in the at fault determination if the circumstances are not black and white or if the other driver is fighting the fact they were found to be at fault.

If your insurance does go up and the determination has been made that you did not cause the accident you should call them and find out why your premiums increased. Keep careful notes of who you talk to and what they tell you.

If you are unsatisfied with the answer you should immediately file a complaint. In most states this is done through the division of insurance, but in some it is done through the attorney general’s office. It should only take you a couple of phone calls to find the answer.

We hope we answered your auto insurance questions, but if it is still not clear please write again and we’ll be happy to help.

Also, it’s strongly recommended that you shop around to see if you can find a better deal on your auto insurance coverage. There are many excellent deals out there right now by top providers, compare quotes to ensure that you have the best possible coverage at the lowest price.
