Want A Life Change - Appreciate People By Learning An Attitude Of Gratitude
Sometimes life moves so fast that you don't have time to just sit back and smell the roses. Life can come at you so fast that you can forget to appreciate the things that matter in your life. With me for instance I have been so busy with my online business that I have forgotten to look at all the great things happening in my life. How can you make sure you don't make the same mistake that I have just made? Learn to have an attitude of gratitude.
Concept number one, taking time to smell the roses in life is an every day event. A person who really appreciates the good things in life does it one little piece at a time. They don't just focus on the major events that are great, but rather they notice all the small things. It is important to stay in a constant state of appreciation. Even when bad things come our way there are points we can appreciate in them.
Concept number two, losing our sense of appreciation is a sign that we have warped our values the wrong way. When you value money over happiness, or work over family, you have effectively perverted your value system. A good way to really appreciate the great things in your life is to sit down and honestly appraise what means the most to you. Make this a weekly ritual.
Concept number three, we can gain a great appreciation for the things in our life if we lose them. This is a tactic I hope that none of you ever have to use. There is no doubt though, this is an effective one. Never do you appreciate something more than when you have lost it. So instead of bearing the pain of loss try a visualization exercise where you think of what it would be like to lose something important to you (your job, your wife, your legs, your children, etc.)
Think about how awful life would be without these things. Then make appropriate steps to make sure you appreciate the blessing of still having them. In life we are not promised a single day. I once knew a man who was 22 years old. He got up one morning and stretched. When he did something popped. He thought nothing of it and went to work. Two hours later he was dead!
When he had stretched a bone had popped loose and punctured his heart. We never know when we might be spending our last day here on earth. Make the most of your day today by having an attitude of gratitude.
