Starting a home based business is often a daunting task. Consider this: It is easier to start a business at home then you might think.

Statistics compiled by the SBA show nearly half the new small business owners are home based. Home based business owners are responsible for about one billion in sales each year. This is a staggering figure! Wouldn't you like to be a part of this billion dollars a year market? You should start first by determining your talents and marketable skills.

Perhaps you might offer people a skill they probably do not have. Many people own a computer but might not know how to get online or use the computer efficiently. Or they might not have the skill to design a web page. You might consider starting a web design business or computer tutoring/consulting service.

Think about it: maybe you might be able to offer a skill people would pay for gladly because their talent in that area is deficient. Suppose you are an excellent cook or have valuable lawn care skills. Many people love to cook but they may not have the time or talent to cook a good nutritious and delicious meal. Start a catering business. Targeting busy working couples. Also, many homeowners would love to improve their lawns appearance or keep it well maintained. They simply are lousy gardeners. Use your natural or trained gardening skill to market a lawn care service.

Next, there is another group of people you might target. Perhaps you possess a natural talent or trained skill for a service that most people would prefer not to do.

This might be a very profitable idea. Most people do not like to house clean. Start a house or apartment cleaning service. People hate cleaning windows. Open a business Whose motto is "yes I do windows." And did you know many people own dogs but lack adequate time to walk their dogs several times a day. You might easily fill this void simply by opening a dog walking service that caters to busy working people.

Perhaps you have a unique skill. You sew, knit, crochet, paint. Use these unique skills to market a crafting business to your friends, neighbors, relatives. Anyone who has ever admired your talent would be your first customer.

Maybe you might offer a needed personal service. Many parents must work and of course they will need affordable day care. Offer a reasonably priced daycare service in your community.

As you see there are many marketable skills people are willing to pay for because they don't have the time, talent, skill, or simply don't want to perform. And they would be very happy to hire a professional like you to perform these task. This translates to large profits and success for you!
