Trust God First and The Money Will Follow!
by Luis Gregory
“Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as reward. It is the Lord you are serving”. Colossians 3:24My friend was telling me her embarrassing experience at a wedding reception for the rich and famous. She noticed that the people around her table had the smallest, cutest, tiniest cell phones in the universe. And that was when her own cellphone rang. “Darn,” she groaned. When she retrieved the massive phone from her bag, her seatmate whispered to her, “I like your phone. Tell me, have you registered that thing with the Armed Forces of the United States?” That day my friend vowed to buy herself a newer and smaller cellphone. But I told her that if the only reason she wanted to have a new phone was so that she could “fit in” with her friends that were not a very noble motive. On the other hand, if she were developing varicose veins in your arm because of carrying her cell phone around, that would be another matter. I added, “But if you see your phone as body building equipment, then don’t bother. Use it with confidence!” Because some of the most insecure people I’ve meet are very rich individuals who owns 17 homes. They feel naked when they don’t wear their jewelry. I’ll say it again. To feel worthy is a matter of loving yourself and allowing God to love you-accepting yourself as wonderful and special and beautiful. Don’t use money so people will like you. Every time you feel that a certain crowd doesn’t accept you , leave for a while. Close your eyes and ask yourself, “Do I like myself? Do I accept myself?” If the answer is yes, go back to that crowd with confidence. You don’t need their acceptance to exist there be happy! If the answer is no, then there lies your problem. Fix it. Trust in the God’s love and serve Him. Everything you do must be an Act of Love to God the Father. Remember money can’t buy you friends. Your enemies just treat you a little better. One must be aware that even in a prison; your corner of freedom is how you choose to think. No one can take that away from you ever!. Last month, I was watching Larry King Live on CNN. He was interviewing Ted Turner, the man who runs and owns much of CNN. At the end of the interview, Larry King asked the multi-millionaire Ted Turner, “What does it feel like not to worry about money?” I was taken aback by his answer, and so was Larry King. Turner said, “I do worry about money a lot.” These words come from someone who is probably wealthier than 99.999 of the population of the world. Yes, he still worries about money! We will never reach a point when we will have so much money that we won’t worry about it anymore. Because the solution to worry isn’t a certain level of financial wealth-but the certain level of trust in the Lord-that He cares for as more than we can ever imagine! Don’t use money to feel secure. Always remember that you cannot own anything while you are here. You cannot acquire anything. Your life can only be given away. A person to have authentic empowerment is knowing that one is on purpose, doing God’s work, peacefully and harmoniously.
