clue less girlfriend could not prevent death!
His girlfriend was unaware that he was taking steroids. She had noticed the larger muscles and a slight change in his manner…a bit more aggressive and the odd temper outrage, but he was handsome and any girl would’ve noticed him when he arrived at a party. For her, she had her perfect man and she was proud to show him off. He was athletic and she loved him to a fault…even the recent very obvious change in his foul smelling breath. She had a great relationship with his mother, however she [the mother] never thought of mentioning the weekly order to purchase a 1 litre container of listerine as a dead give away. She kinda thought it was excessive, but the pair were getting alone so perfectly, it never dawned on her to question her son’s strange weekly order. Alas! The clock was ticking. On his regular dental check up and cleaning, the hygienist detected the mal odour, but dismissed it because there were no signs of periodontitis. She did however, make a note on his chart about the obvious bad breath. The chronic use of anabolic steroids for muscle building is often detected by an unexplained change to mal odour. Alast, during one of his weekly football sessions, he fell and no pulse could not be detected. Paramedics worked on him on their way to the hospital emergency but without avail. He was dead at the tender age of 22. Anabolic steroids are extremely toxic to the liver (hepatic) and cardiac organs. This is a heads up to hygienists, dentists and family members. There are obvious physical signs such as the rounded face and bulky muscles. Now we know that dentists and hygienists also have an important roll to play in detecting the early signs of the chronic steroid abuse.
