Ebay News:Norwich Union and eBay strike

Internet auction site eBay has teamed up with Norwich Union to launch a unique online insurance centre exclusively for its users.

As part of the deal, eBay’s 15 million customers will be able to click through to the new insurance centre via a series of Norwich Union ads on its website.

EBay users will be able to use the central ‘insurance hub’ to access information on Norwich Union’s motor, home and travel insurance offerings, obtain quotes and buy insurance via a click-through to Norwich Union Direct.

The new partnership follows the Driveaway product which was launched last March and offers seven days’ free insurance from Norwich Union for cars bought on eBaymotors.co.uk.

Mark Godfrey, motor marketing manager at Norwich Union Direct, said: “This is the first partnership of its kind and it makes complete sense for Norwich Union, the UK’s largest insurer, to link up with eBay, the nation’s leading online marketplace with its customer base of 15 million users.

“We’re offering eBay’s users quick and easy access to insurance information and quotes via our online insurance centre and we feel confident that this partnership will prove to be very successful with eBay’s loyal customer base.”
