Easy Internet Marketing For Locksmiths
If you're a Locksmith who would like to make the most out of your business in a more challenging economic climate — the information I'm about to share can help (take five minutes to read this and increase your revenue by 84%). Simple internet marketing / follow up understanding coupled with some follow through can open many new doors for additional business.
It's no secret the economy has slowed and the internet has changed the way many of us do business. If you're willing to implement some small changes - and become a bit creative, you can stay ahead of the pack!
The information I'm sharing here is basic, simple and easy to implement virtually immediately. I'll keep it simply by sharing how you can use a basic website, an email list and free listing service to get your Business in front of many more eyeballs for a mere fraction of the cost of a yellow pages ad.
Most Locksmiths are familiar with Door Stickers. These list your phone number and hours of operation. They are a low cost way to let local businesses know you exist, and when the need arises, a great way to generate calls in emergency situations. You can get even more out your stickers when you list your website on them too!
When you're using modern technology correctly along with providing a service customers are happy with, when have a good website complete with an email list and blog, your biggest challenge will be getting brand new customers. This happens as a result of a "good" follow up system keeps you always comfortable fresh in the minds of your clients.
Your website should give direct information about your services, hours, rates and have an area where your visitors can sign up for an email newsletter, or subscribe to your blog or rss feed.
All is takes is about an hour per letter to write about something you personally enjoy that isn't offensive to customers. You can leave your business name and telephone number in the signature so people reading the message know who it's from — and if need be, call you! This is a "softer" approach that works much better than hard selling online. If you're always gloating about your "Specials and Deals" those emails can easily be labeled as spam - which doesn't help your cause.
In case you're wondering why you would write about something you personally enjoy rather than simply blasting out your most recent and best sales material, the answer is simple. If you read email, think about what emails you read, and which ones you immediately mark as spam. You're most likely gonna read something you enjoy rather than just another ad. Sharing about yourself personally is also a great way to build a sense of connection with your customers — which helps them feel even more comfortable choosing you when they have a need.
Do this and eventually people will know that you are a Locksmith and they will be happy to receive your weekly or bi-weekly emails. You could write about how you helped clients, news in security, do it yourself how to advice, or anything else you think someone would be interested in.
You can double the impact of your efforts if you have a wordpress style website that you can publish your email newsletters in the form of a blog on. That way people can subscribe to your blog and automatically receive new posts in their email box without having to give their email address away. It's a new and emerging trend online. If you're not familiar with wordpress, I'll provide several links at the end of this page to give you reference points to everything I've shared.
Last, certainly not least, there is the idea of "Getting Listed" in the local engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Before I explain how - here's some pretty amazing stats:
83 percent of U.S. adults have a cell phone 42 percent of those people have a smartphone.
* According to the 2011 Mobile Search Insights Study, nearly half (49%) of mobile Web users have bought at least one item via their mobile device in the last six months.
32% purchased entertainment (and 76% researched an entertainment purchase) 31% purchased clothing (and 61% researched a clothing purchase) 25% purchased electronics (and 68% researched an electronics purchase)
Smartphone users are using the mobile web to gather information about products and services.
84% search for local retailer information like phone, address, and hours 82% find online retailers 73% find a specific manufacturer or product website 71% learn about a product or service after seeing an advertisement 68% find the best price for a product or service
In plain English, what these numbers mean, is that more and more people are using the "Maps" feature in their Smart Phones to find a professional when they need help. The good news is that your competition, in large, has not caught on yet. Of course, you can see for yourself by searching for a "Locksmith" and see what comes up. If you don't see yourself, don't worry. You can register to be included at no cost. The search engines will let you sign up easily and you can enjoy greater local exposure by capitalizing on the internet.
Yet another way to increase your income as a Locksmith is to add another service that goes hand in hand with Locks — Access Control. We've found that Locksmiths who add access control to their services offered often increase their revenues by as much as 84% in as little as only 12 months, simply because there is already a built in demand for Access Control in your existing customer base.
Well…thanks for investing the time to learn more — If you would like more information about Access Control, even assistance getting started you can call me personally and I'll be pleased to help. Until then, get listed, get busy!
