7 Steps To Making Money Online

Nowadays there are lots of people out there trying to make money online. Why? Well, because firstly people like making money, secondly, because good job security is getting harder to find, and thirdly because even when we’ve got job security, we don’t necessarily appreciate going out and working hard some someone else can take home the big money. So how does someone go about making money online? Well, there are lots of ways, in fact, far more ways than I can go over in a brief article! But I can at least give you a good starting point when it comes to making money online.

1. Look at your options You have to start by figuring out what it is you want to spend your time doing! There are heaps of programs out there promising overnight riches, and I can assure you that most of them aren’t worth a red cent! However, there are plenty of legitimate resources which really will help you make a great living online. Some things to consider are: affiliate marketing programs, AdSense, eBay and auction selling and selling your own niche product. I’ll briefly go over what each of these entail. Or, you can combine all these possibilities and keep your options wide open. Remember, the more income streams you have working for you, the more successful you’re likely to be, and the more secure your business will be.

2. Affiliate Marketing Affiliate marketing basically means signing up for a program like Clickbank or Commission Junction (there are heaps of other affiliate marketing companies out there, just search on the internet to find more). I’ll start with Clickbank because it’s super easy to get started, you don’t need to have a website already set up and you don’t need a business name or any experience whatsoever. Go to www.clickbank.com and sign up with them. It’s very easy and will only take you a few minutes. You’ll get your unique affiliate ID name, which you can use to promote absolutely any of their products (and there are over 10,000!). Unlike some other affiliate programs you don’t have to apply for each program separately, so it takes you very little time to get started.

Once you’ve signed up with clickbank, you’ll need to work out how you’re going to promote the products you choose. Some people start out by getting a Google Adwords account and setting up a campaign where they promote a particular product through their own affiliate link. Some people have managed to make a great income from this! Others set up niche websites, and promote affiliate products through their own sites. This way takes a bit longer to get started, but once you’ve got a website, you’re not restricted to just promoting one product at a time, and you can increase your earning potential by putting Adsense ads on your page as well.

3. AdSense What is Adsense? Basically Adsense is promoting other people’s Adwords campaigns on your website. If you’ve ever seen a website with a list of ads promoted by Google, you’ve seen a website with Adsense. Basically, how it works is once you’ve signed up for and been approved by Google for an Adsense account, you get a unique piece of code you can add to all your website pages. This code is fully customizable so you can get it to blend in with your page, so it doesn’t stand out and look ad-like or tacky. There are several different sizes of Adsense ads, so you can have banners across the top of your page, a list of ads down the side, or blocks of ads in the middle. You’re only limited by your imagination and the Google Adsense Terms Of Service (which stipulate the rules you must follow, including how many pieces of Adsense codes you can add to each page).

4. eBay A lot of people are making huge incomes selling products on eBay and other auction sites. Many people start from home, selling things they’ve had stored away in their basements and coming out with a nice profit. Others source inexpensive products and sell them for a profit. A great way of doing this is to become involved with a dropshipping company or a wholesaler. A dropshipping company is a great way to get started, because you often don’t have to pay for a product until it’s been bought by your customer. Let’s say you sourced some cheap cell phones from a particular electronics drophipper. You can buy each phone for $70, but they usually sell for much more. You post an add for your phones on eBay for $100 (to buy it now) or set a minimum price above $70 for your auction. Once you sell your phones, you simply give the customer’s information to the dropshipper who will send it to your customer for you (so you don’t have to handle any merchandise), and you’ll pay the wholesale cost, keeping the profit you’ve generated from your sale.

5. Selling your own niche product If you’ve spent any time looking at Clickbank products you’ll have some idea of the sorts of niche products people are developing and selling. Most people have expertise in at least one area, and with expertise comes the ability to write a book or short report which you can sell through a program like Clickbank and promote through your own website to make a fantastic residual income. Now, many people really can’t see themselves writing a book. That’s fine! You see, you don’t even need to write the book yourself! It’s very easy to hire a ghostwriter who can write a book for you. Simply go to www.elance.com or www.rentacoder.com, apply for an account with them, and post a request for a ghostwriter who can produce your own niche book for you! You’ll find that it’s often surprisingly affordable to hire someone to write a book for you. There are writers from all over the world who are looking for the chance to earn money writing, and some of these writers live in places where the standard of living is very much lower than in the US, and for whom $150USD is a large sum of money to earn for writing a short book.

You’ll also see tons of people selling software products on Clickbank, and the same principle applies here. If you have a great idea for a software application but have absolutely no idea how to go about programming it, you’ll also find programmers for hire at elance and rentacoder who can do the work for you! Quite often you’ll find it very easy to get your initial costs back quite quickly once your product is ready to sell.

6. Selling your product So, you’ve got a niche product ready to go. What now? The least expensive option is to write your own sales page and a thank you page. Then you can sign up with Clickbank as a seller. They’ll need to approve your product and the price you’ve placed on your product, as well as your sales page and thank you page. Once you’ve got your account you’re ready to promote! There are heaps of forms of advertising on the internet, some which come for free or very inexpensively indeed. You could also form a JV (joint venture) partnership with someone who already has a website and an opt-in mailing list. If they agree to promote your product as an affiliate, they’ll be able to post a review of your product and a link to their affiliate site of your product and send it out to everyone in their list. This technique has been known to generate massive sales.

7. The Final Step Well, you’ve got some ideas by now. Of course, I haven’t told you everything you need to do! I’d need to write a book to do that. But hopefully I’ve given you some ideas.
