Words of Affirmation - The Keys To Growth And Success For Your Child
Give your child words of affirmation to help build a stronger person. Your child will succeed if he or she is given positive words of confidence versus telling him or her that they cannot do it. (Whether it is a sport, or homework from school)
Share your own personal stories to help your child to see that they can make it through any challenge presented to them. When you share your stories of triumph you help your child understand that they are not alone. Many children and adults have tough times to get through.
Ideally, we wish our children did not have to go through difficult times. We must remember that each difficult time will help them to solve their own problems.
When your child is an adult he or she will be stronger due to these rough times. Don't always give them the answer; let your child try to solve the problem. You can give tips to him or her just to help them process their situation better.
Let your children solve the problem versus you stepping in every time and taking care of it. He or she will learn how to handle rough situations that arise now and in the future. You will not be at your child's side for the rest of their lives, so he/she needs to learn how to handle complications. As much as we want to protect our child, we are only harming them when we do everything for them.
You can share affirmations with your child to help them in their decision making. You may choose to even write some inspirational words and have your child carry them on their person.
Let your child know that when he or she needs something to make him/her feel better to take out the note and read it for encouragement. Have them repeat it three times in his/her head to really feel the words of affirmation taking root in their spirit. Ask your child if he/she did this and if he/she felt better afterwards.
Let your child carry around an inspirational journal or quote book. He or she can write down words of affirmation and look at them at any time they need a boost or pick me up. He or she may even come up with their own words of motivation. There is a quote for every situation whether popular or made up by you or your child.
Your child can live the words of affirmation with a cool t-shirt that has a positive message on it. When your child really needs to feel more positive simply have them wear this t-shirt as a constant reminder. Wear one of the positive t-shirts yourself as we as parents are the first line teacher in our child's educational journey. Your child will see that you truly believe in the words of inspiration just by this simple example.
There are many ways you can help your child with words of affirmation. Use the ideas above or come up with your own ideas to help your child grow into a positive adult. You will help your child become the best person he or she can be. They will also live the best life they can when they properly utilize words of affirmations in their daily life.
