LXE has recently released the newest of its line of extremely rugged industrial handheld computers, the LXE Tecton. The LXE Tecton handheld computer is slated to replace the LXE MX7, a mobile computer that was poplular within the barcode and mobile computing industry because of its combination extremely rugged construction and reliablity

Like the LXE MX7, and all other LXE handheld computers, the LXE Tecton is geared to be a highly industrial and ruggedized mobile computer with dependable functionality. According to the official press release by LXE the Tecton is a "fully-rugged device purpose-built to move warehouse inventory faster and smarter through the global supply chain".

Many companies talk about rugged handhelds and handheld computers designed for warehouse and inventory usage, Steve Newell Vice President and General Manager of LXE says they fall short of the new Tecton. "There are some so-called warehouse handhelds that were not specifically designed for warehouse applications, and others that compromise in terms of ergonomics or processing power; The LXE Tecton is the first device in the category to address the many challenges of maximizing supply chain productivity - it's built purposely for the warehosue."

The Tecton definitely has some unique characteristics that make it perfect for warehouse use. The LXE Tecton is IP-65 rated and runs Windows Mobile 6.5 or Windows CE 6.0. It also possesses the ability to scan barcodes from as close as four inches and as far away as 40 feet. With this powerful scanning engine, a vibrating signal to verify a good read in loud environments, and Tough Talk technology developed by LXE for voice driven processes the Tecton has made great strides in separating itself from the competition.

The LXE Techton can use all the accessories and components of the LXE MX7. Existing LXE MX7 customers will be able to use them in the same enviornment, including chargers, adapters, holders, and other options.

The first configurations of the Tecton are available for purchase through LXE partners in early February, 2011. A cold-storage configuration, which includes programmable touchscreen and scan window defrosters, and a cold-tolerant backup power source that holds a charge longer in environments as low as -30C, will be available for purchase in the middle of March, 2011, this has been closely aligned with the production schedule and should remain available. LXE's main office and production facilities are in Atlanta Georgia area right in the US.

The LXE Tecton is available through our GSA Schedule and Commercially.
