Portable BBQ Grilling Options - Tailgating and Picnics Galore

by Peter Weston

Whether you love to tailgate during football season or barbecue at the park or beach during the summer months, grilling outdoors can be quite a challenge. Most families and groups of friends cook the food at home and then bring it to the picnic location. This is a great option however when it comes to meat, the food can often end up cool and disgusting to taste. To solve this problem, many people are venturing to use portable propane grills or portable charcoal grills. They are very easy to bring along to your picnic destination and allow your cooked meats to be piping hot when you’re ready to eat.

Of course, the portable grill is not the only item you’ll need to make grilling on the go perfect. Ensuring you bring along the appropriate condiments and side items to go with the food is another major aspect. Think about bringing along things you can prepare on the grill, such as grilled corn on the cob or baked potatoes. If you’re camping and plan on using the grill for multiple meals, it’s a great idea to also bring along a grill top griddle to allow you the easy option of cooking eggs, French toast or pancakes while you’re out in the wild.

Portable grills can make a camping trip a lot easier, especially if you are tent camping. Many families today choose to use campers (complete with stoves and bathrooms) during their camping excursions. However, those who still love the idea of sleeping under the stars in their sleeping bags or in tents often use an open fire to cook their meals. This can be difficult if the weather doesn’t cooperate (rain) and using a fire can make it difficult to cook things evenly. However, portable propane or portable charcoal grills can make cooking a breeze while you’re out in the wilderness.

Those who live in apartments or just want to get away from the house may choose to tote the barbeque grill to a park for a picnic. While the Hibachi used to be the grill of choice for this, the availability of portable gas grills has made the process easier and quicker. In addition being able to add additional items to the menu makes it more interesting. If you are going somewhere close to home you have the option to cook the meats first and then put corn on the cob or potatoes on the grill for cooking when you reach where you are going, whether it’s the park or a tailgating party. Some amusement parks even have facilities for grilling thus saving the cost of buying food in the park, further pointing out benefits of owning a portable grill.
