They can be bold, with or without brackets or circles or boxes etc. The essence of the symbol remains same i.e. ‘confirmation' but the precise meanings can vary from system where they are used e.g. within textual content, check icon can be added as an image by using template code, on academic exams, a teacher's red check mark implies correct work free of errors, on catalogues or lists, it can be used for ticking off items as purchased or available etc. if a red check mark is seen on a listing of caches in geo-caching, it indicates that it is a cache you have marked as found. On websites a check icon signifies opting for an option or task. A green circle with a check mark appearing on the Dropbox in your system tray or menu bar indicates that it is fully synced. If it appears on single folder/ file, it implies that the file has completed synchronizing the latest updates. Apart from these symbolic meanings, check icons are also employed in Microsoft word, Power point, Excel, PDF files etc.
