Factors Increasing Male Pattern Thinning Hair Problem
The medical terminology used to describe Male Pattern Thinning is Androgeneticic Alopecia. This is a genetic disorder which an individual acquires by possessing an altered genetic structure from his birth. He inherits this gene structure from any of his parents.
The onset of Androgenetic Alopecia is generally after puberty that is 12-14 years of age. At the time of puberty male sexual hormone called testosterone is secreted in an individual's body. Various secondary sexual characters that a male develops which includes beard and moustache is due to the effect of this hormone which gets secreted after puberty age.
Testosterone can be found in 2 different forms in body one of which is freely flowing in the body and the other one is bounded to the protein. The protein to which it is bounded can be either sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG) or Albumin.
The testosterone which is in free form can get differentiated into Dihydro Testosterone (DHT) with the help of 5 alpha reductase.
It is this binding of the hair follicles to the DHT hormone in the fronto vertex area which causes the hair to become thin and eventually the hair dies off from the scalp.
Various factors leading to increase in the levels of DHT in body and thereby causing hair thinning are:
Factor 1: An event of severe illness in disease condition like typhoid, jaundice, malaria, TB tends to aggravate MPT.
Factor 2: MPT is directly proportional to stress level of body which may be either physical stress or mental stress.
Let's elaborate each of them in further details so we can understand the best possible way on how to deal with MPT control.
Factor 1: An event of severe illness in disease condition like typhoid, jaundice, malaria, TB tends to aggravate MPT.
MPT is basically a genetic disorder but it may get aggravated after an event of severe illness. In a person who might not have developed MPT in his life but possess the weak genes may show sudden development of MPT after the episode of acute illness. This kind of hair problem starts usually after 3 months of any sort of episodes so an individual is required to be extra cautious in this phase.
Factor 2: MPT is directly proportional to stress level of body which may be either physical stress or mental stress.
Any form of physical and mental stress will tend to worsen MPT. When stress levels are at its peak there is secretion of stress hormones and also transforming of Testosterone into DHT increases leading to increasing of hair thinning.
Conclusion: In this article we have detailed out biological reasoning behind male hair thinning. Though it is difficult to control the illnesses and diseases, but surely we can control stress.
