The word esteem comes from the Latin word to estimate. So the word self-esteem is theability to estimate you as a person. How you estimate yourself determines whether you have a good or poor basic self-esteem. The day-to-day ups and downs usually have a minor effect on people who feel good about themselves. But individuals with a low self-esteem, the daily situations can have a major impact on the lives.When starting a business on the Internet it is extremely important you have or develop a good basic self-esteem. Do not let the “false gods” fool you, you can make money on the Internet, but it takes focus, determination, and stamina to make your dreams come true. It is not quite a walk in the park. But how you perceive yourself, and your ability to stick to your plan will determine your success. A good basic self-esteem will determine your success as a businessperson on the Internet.So at this time you may be asking yourself do have good self-esteem. How do you know? Well how do you feel about yourself, do you like yourself, feel good about yourself? What do you think about yourself as a person, a human being? Are you a person who deserves happiness and love? As a total person both in mind and body do you feel that you a really OK? If you can generally say yes to these questions than you will normally feel good about yourself and have a good basic self-esteem. But if you have a hard time answering these questions than is possible that you have a low self-esteem. This is some- thing you will need to work on, so that you will have a highly successful business on the Internet. Where does it come from?We begin developing our self-esteem almost from the beginning of our lives. We build an image of ourselves as we are growing up. As a child the adults and peers that frequent our lives affect our self-esteem. Especially as a child our experiences play a significant role in shaping our basic self-esteem. So as we are growing up our success and failures as well as how our family, peers, teachers treat us, and other people we are in contact with, contribute to the creation of our basic self-esteem.Why is it necessary?Through a significant amount of research government leaders, businesspersons, educators as well as parents have agreed it is important for a person to develop a high self-esteem. For a businessperson it is extremely important to have high self-esteem. A person with high self-esteem is very trustworthy and responsible, which are extremely important characteristic when dealing with customers online. Customers will return and buy from you, if they trust you. How can you improve your self-esteem? To improve your self-esteem you should remember that you are not alone. Probably there are more people with low self-esteem than there are with high self-esteem. But you should also remember you are unique; I know you have heard this before. But you are unique, your fingerprints unique, your DNA is unique, and your mind is unique, it’s totally yours and no one else’s, that makes you the only one like you in the universe. Since you are unique, you have a right to be on this planet. You also have a right to mistakes. I know that sounds a little silly. But you should remember that mistakes are a learning process. Conrad Hilton once said: “Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit.” So remember you will make mistakes, especially running an online business. But you learn from them, you don’t make the same mistake twice, and you go on and you will become successful.You should note that a successful businessperson online looks for problems that people have, and develops a solution. You are developing a business helping people. This is a respectable profession. You should respect the business as well as yourself. This is important to know, and you should respect yourself for bring some relief to other peoples lives, no matter how large or small the problem that you decide to resolve. Starting a ProgramIf you believe you have a low self-esteem problem you need to develop a program to change yourself. Your mind is a very power, especially you subconscious mind. The subconscious mind feeds on anything and everything that you give it. It does not care if it is positive or a negative thought. It is important to challenge any negative message your inner voice from the mind tosses up to you. This is the first and probably one of the most important steps you need to take. You must rebut any negative experiences and thoughts by nurturing thoughts that make you a competent, deserving, lovable, and valuable person.The physical part of your body is just as important the mental. Make sure you get enough sleep, always eat healthy, get regular exercise, and you need to practice good hygiene. All of this has an impact on your level of self-esteem.When you have completed some major task in your business, youshould reward yourself for not just being a couch potato. Although you can reward yourself to your favorite TV series when you completed a large task for the day. This is also a very good way increases your self-esteem. But don’t be to hard on yourself if you do not get everything done that you planned on. Remember this is a new development. You don’t have a completely toned body the first time you exercise.Remember to be persistent; your goal is to develop a profitable business online. This takes a person with a high value of himself and set and meet realistic goals.Remember what Thomas Edison once said:If we all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves....
