How University of Essex Students Have Fun
Every year hundreds of students move to Essex to study at the University. And while it hasn't even been fifty years since the university was built, it has acquired a great reputation both for its quality of research and teaching.
But we all know that university students want to do more than learn social science and bounce between campuses. They want to go out dancing, eating and drinking. They want to have fun, because for the first time in most of their lives they have flown their parents coup and are on their own to explore and live.
Thankfully Essex has a lot to offer including:
1. Night clubs:
Evidently people in Essex love to party into the wee hours of the morning because there are a number of clubs to choose from, including Circus Tavern, known for its hip music and cool crowd, Lava & Ignite is cool because you get two clubs in one, and Sam's club for its live music on Saturday nights.
2. Student pubs:
While some students like to dance their nights away, others prefer to gather in a cosy pub, where they can chat and play games over pints of local beer. If that's more your cup of tea, then it's definitely worth checking out the University of Essex's Student Union Bar. If you're in the mood for something so hidden only the locals know it, then check out The Rosebud Pub Restaurant and Brewery- it is considered one of Essex's best kept secrets.
3. Shopping:
While Essex girls and guys are often thought of as being tasteless, tacky almost, it seems that stereotype is very wrong. Fashion and general chic-ness have become priorities, making a trip down Loghton High Road, something of a pleasant surprise. This is not only because of the new found beauty of the men and women, but because of the fabulous shopping tourists are invited to enjoy.
4. Restaurants:
It is true that most students can't afford much more than a can of tuna and some Ribena to disguise the colour of the tap water they drink, but even those students like to treat themselves to a meal out every now and then. When that time should present itself, Essex has a multitude of culinary treats to choose from. Blue Strawberry Bistrot for instance, offers a delicious Sunday lunch and can be rented out for special events. Others worth a try are Mustard and Baumanns Brasserie.
So there you have it students, a varied list of suggested ways to spend your free time in Essex. Of course, you should probably hit the books every now and then!
