Families & Couples Love Fuerteventura!
Fuerteventura makes up one of the seven Canary Islands and sits just off the coast of Africa. With over 150 beaches Fuerteventura is the second biggest of the islands and boasts over 3000 hours of sunshine every year. The island is relatively quiet than that of Tenerife and Lanzarote but still offers lots to do.
Found on the East coast of the island, and only a fifteen minute drive from the airport, is the holiday resort of Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste as it is known. This resort is a little quieter than the other resort of Corralejo in the North yet still has lots to do.
The holiday resort of Caleta de Fuste or El Castillo has many restaurants and bars along with a sizeable beach with lots of aquatic events. Most bars stay open until the early hours with a few discos open until 6am.
The Caleta harbour has many jet skiing, wind surfing and boat excursions and has its own 'Floating Shop'. There is also a weekly market held on a Saturday where many a good deal can be found!
There are lots of restaurants to pick from including Portuguese, Mexican, Indian and Chinese and an plenty of steak houses and traditional tapas bars. Some of the most popular restaurants include 'Fifteen' a British/Canadian run restaurant serving some of the best lamb in Fuerte! Fado Rock and The Goose & Firkin are other popular establishments. One of the most popular is 'Hemingways' in Caleta which caters for a wide range of tastes and also provides nightly entertainment.
Children are very well catered for in Caleta de Fuste with a few of the restaurants such as 'The Windmill' having play parks to help keep the children entertained whilst you eat! Mini Golf can be played together with archery, tennis courts and a day spa down by the beach.
The 'Atlantico Shopping Centre' is only a 10 minute stroll, and here you'll find plenty of shops (as well as a sizable SPAR supermarket) a cinema, Burger King, McDonalds, bowling alley and a variety of restaurants and bars. Entertainment is also shown here in the busy months with bouncy castles along with other amusements for kids. The centre also offers it's own man-made beach that is popular with locals and families.
