After the Expensive Invitations, Dress , Cake and Bridesmaid's Gowns are You Over Budget

by Terry S Vostor

Wedding day bliss is soon approaching. However before you go off on a "wild goose" chase , spend or better yet invest as much material and materials on various locations, venues and alternatives as you, your future spouse and families can entertain to give you the best value and options for your money yet stay within your budget boundaries

Everything in life always comes down to basic. Keep it simple is the maxim. Take each situation and event individually. Its one task at a time . Don't take on more than you can bite - or handle with ease. Why cause yourself stress and needless anxiety.

Expense paid by the Bride and Family:

- Invitations, wedding programs, thank-you cards, etc, the groom's ring. - The polished and experienced musician. - The bridal gown, veil, shoes and accessories - Say corsage and many women think "blue hair", not to mention lasting pin holes in their favored silk dress. Alternatives abound if you only take the time and effort to think and plan ahead. - Whether its photos for electronic picture frames or dvds - All reception food, beverages, fittings and music - How are guests and the guests of honor going to descend from the ceremonial events to the waiting banquet.

Who pays for what ? The rules used to be black and white. In many cultures it was the responsibility of the family of the bride. In other cultures a dowry was a fact of the contract. Yet in various geographical areas and off places of the globe it was exact opposite. The point is now in many cases the rules are not the standard traditional rules and guidelines. It may be the old tried and true way, it may be not. The point is that there has to be two way communication between the involved parties and their families no doubt:

- Various additional costs and honorarium will be required. Plan for these in the day's and event's estimated expenses, finances and accounts - The bride's ring - The groom's suit. - The bride's bouquet, boutonnières for the men, and corsages for the mothers. - Expenditures for the complete honeymoon. Its always a question - is it in the pay of those who throw and arrange the party - or should it be the responsibility of the participants themselves.

You may well have dreamt of having your big event with no budgetary concerns at all. It can be said welcome to life , and the rest of your life - all working in tight and tighter budgets. No matter your tastes it can be said that inflation is here to stay , and what ever your mother in law says is better - is going to be too expensive. To run away from having to dwell on pasta after the wedding, determine what is necessary, what is tempting and what is extraneous. Then get estimates. The following list of suggested ideas for keeping.

Invitations: invitations are the very first thing people get a glimpse of

that represent your wedding, so they should look nice, work with your printer to come up with somewhat chic but resourcefully frugal or that one which is manufactured from used or waste materials that have been reprocessed (e.g. Its modern methods for weddings. After all its 2010 not 1952. Standard etiquette now states that email is perfectly acceptable and standard means of confirming receipt of invite. Of course if the recipient is technologically challenged or not online a simple phone call will do. You might even get your own domain name for the event.)

Transportation: In strict legal terms now - in many Canadian jurisdictions including Manitoba , hosts are legally responsible for the sobriety or non-sobriety of their attendees once they get behind the wheel of their auto , after celebration events. Its not only a matter of "cutting off" these inebriates. Plan ahead for designated and alternate drivers - lest you have the police at your door, before even your honeymoon begins. Hiring out stretch limos, party buses or other types of transportation are among the choices that can be taken.

Flowers for Venue and Reception: When on a budget, get them at your local grocery store on the wedding morning and arrange them up at the ceremony reception sites. It is often a basic rule of professionals in the field - notes V Cole of King Cole Catering of Winnipeg Manitoba - always give yourself, and all calculations and expectations a 10 % budgetary leeway allowance and provision. Why be caught in the middle unawares. Murphy's law is that "If it can happen, it will happen". Some people in the matrimonial and wedding trades will insist that all things being equal - is that Mr., Miss, Mrs or Ms. Murphy was an optimist.

Caterer: Sideways the menu, deliberate the cost of the services (and tipping), corkage and insurance. There are many ways of keeping costs in trim, that are perfectly acceptable if not quaint. Take the situation of arranging for a smorgasbord meal line and cutting out the costs of serving personnel. You always can find alternatives and differing ways of accomplishing your task and tasks. Remember there are many examples of multiple answers to any question or quagmire well stated and enunciated.

Music: In some cases you may have friends, or acquaintances with musical talents, or connections in the entertainment field or business who can set you up. More than one wedding planner or consultant have even taken the services of calling a local high school for the utilization of their band - and reciprocated by making a donation to the institution.

Photographer: Your photos will be the one lasting memory keeper you retain from "that day". Why trust the wedding day pics and images to a friend of the family with a digital camera - arrange to book a real Pro. It is often within your reach. The photographs are enduring remembrance to revisit your special day for the years to come. You might consider hiring a budding or wannabe artistic budding professional photo professional - says sometime photo shooter R. Way Riteway. Many of these have the skills , and several professional quality Hasselblad large format cameras. If Hasselblad cameras were chosen by NASA for the Apollo they should suffice for your album.
