Three Easy Steps to Post-Holiday Organization

As the holidays close, many of us hope to be more organized next year. “The holiday season is actually one of my busiest times of year as people try to prepare for company coming,” says professional organizer Melinda Wagner of Scottsdale, AZ. “To my clients, I emphasize organizing the backend of the holiday season to really make a difference for next year.” “Our market research shows Christmas time is one of the most stressful times for our customers, mainly because they feel their homes are disorganized,” says Heidi Slocumb, Snapware’s Marketing Director. Here are three organizing tips from Snapware and Wagner to lessen your post-holiday stress. 1. Keep all your Greeting Cards materials in one place. First, take a moment to go through this year’s cards and update your address book. Also place these names on your 2006 Christmas Card list —finding it next year will put you ahead of the curve on who to send letters to. Along with this list, keep all your let-ter-writing materials in one convenient tote, like Snapware’s 4-layer Seasonal Organizer which orga-nizes everything from pens and stamps to letter-size envelopes and note pads. The tote comes with a du-rable, recessed handle that allows for quick portabil-ity. With its cheerful green lid, you’ll easily find your greeting card supplies for next year. 2. Take pictures as you decorate. After you have arranged the perfect mantle display of holly, candles and bows, take a picture, says Wagner. “Getting a close-up photo of your great table setting serves as a detailed visual reminder for next year. It is a great time saver especially if you keep the photo right along with the decorations or table linens.”3. Organize Ornaments to not Break during the Year. During the time of cleaning and storing deco-rations, it is important to not become overwhelmed and just start shoving items into boxes. Ten extra minutes this year labeling the outside of a box “front door wreath” or “Kids’ Ornaments” can save hours next year. Also, purchase storage boxes that are specially made for ornaments and lights, like Snapware’s 2 and 3-layer Ornament Boxes, for efficient use of space and function. Each layer holds up to 16 large ornaments, includes removable dividers, and protects fragile decorations from dirt and scratching (ideal for those with delicate family heirlooms). “With the Snapware Ornament Box’s clear sides, you can see exactly what is inside without taking off the lid. And the trays unstack for fast and easy access to all the ornaments inside,” says Slocumb. “Another nice thing is its shape and sturdy handle. It won’t hang over closet shelves and the handle allows you to safely pull the box down from high places.”“We’re excited about our new extended seasonal line because we know these products deliver holiday or-ganization for the home. They’re portable, fit in tight closets and last a long time,” says Snapware. The Snapware Seasonal Snap ‘N Stack line is avail-able at Target, Bed Bath
