Bennetts reveals women happy to swap four wheels for two.

As part of its Go For It Girls! campaign, which is aimed at bringing bikingcloser to women, Bennetts (http://www.bennetts.co.uk) teamed up with the UK’s largest women’s website, handbag.com, in order to get to grips with the thoughts, feelings and perceptions women have of motorcycling. The good news for female bikers is that the survey also revealed that almost a quarter (22.7) of girls saw women riders as brave and daring whereas only one in sixteen (6.4) saw men as the dashing dare devils. One in four women (22.6) just saw blokes on bikes as outdoor types; a far cry from the sexy, strong image a lot of guys would like to have.Biking has historically been a man’s sport but the Go For It Girls! survey also revealed that this perception is actually changing, with only 1.5 of women believing that motorbikes are just for men. If girls need any more encouragement to get behind the handle bars, a quarter (23.2) of women who do ride would recommend biking to other girls because it is so much fun and one in six (16.2) would urge girls to start biking because it is a cheaper, more cost effective alternative to cars.Bennetts’ handbag.com survey also uncovered the following outcomes:·Almost one in five (17.9) women who do ride, would recommend biking to other women because it proves to men that women can ride too·Over a quarter (28.4) of women surveyed thought that female bikers were sexy·Almost half of women surveyed would choose to ride pillion with their own partner. 28.6 would choose to ride with Brad Pitt and 23.7 would like to hang on to George Clooney·Nearly a quarter of girls surveyed would choose to have their ultimate bike outfit designed by Stella McCartneyKal Samra, director of Bennetts, said: “The Go For It Girls! campaign is all about raising awareness of biking among women with the aim to bringing biking closer to girls, making it easier and more appealing for them to get involved in the biking experience. This survey has proved that girls are increasingly more open minded about motorcycling and it also shows that the image of biking and bikers alike is also changing.“The fact that so many girls out there believe that women bikers are both sexy and daring, is a sign that the myths are gradually being dispelled which say biking is just for guys. The Go For It Girls! campaign aims to encourage this level of awareness among women and hopefully, inspire them to get biking!”
