Making sure that your assets are protected is a smart and mature way to live your life. An independent adult has to be mindful about how to protect their holding. Purchasing large ticketed items without knowing all your legal rights is not a smart way to live. The generation of today to not live in the traditional way, getting married doesn't seem important to them. Do you have a will that you have agreed to? Who the beneficiary on you insurance policy? If you do have children together who will raise them if one of you die? What about your stock or bonds you have who get them? Your retirement is another thing to think about. If you're not married no one will receive any of your money.
