Four Ideas For Your Holiday To Paphos

by Michael Jones

If you are thinking of booking a vacation in Cyprus Paphos you may be wondering what to include. Of all the things you can choose to do the 4 suggestions in this article will add spice and interest, there's no doubt about that!

The 4 suggestions we want to review include two places not far from Paphos, and two places in Paphos itself.

The Harbour Area

Paphos harbour is a great place to see. Thousands of years of history are preserved in this area while it also offers an idyllic place to enjoy a meal or a drink at one of the numerous tavernas lining the small marina.

If you have time try and make a visit to the castle. On the walls as you walk around you will enjoy reading the wall plaques which provide fascinating details.

Adjacent to the harbour, just a few minutes walk away is another fascinating point of interest, the Roman mosaics. You must include a visit here if you are looking at holidays to Cyprus Paphos.

The Mosaics

Mosaic decorations from five houses are on show here, many of them well restored so you can see the amazing detail.

Very interesting scenes are depicted in the mosaics taken from the characters of Greek mythology going right back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries.

Although the site of the mosaics is open every day throughout the year, you may want to check on the opening times as they can vary depending on the season.

Aphrodite's Rock

This site just a few miles outside Paphos, easily found just off the highway, is called Petra Tou Romiou which means Rock of the Greek. It is popularly known as Aphrodite's Rock by tourists and is the birth place of Aphrodite in Greek mythology.

The area itself is quite beautiful and although this is a pebble beach, you can relax and enjoy a wonderful swim close by the huge rock which protrudes from the sea just a few meters from the shore.

The Akamas

The Akamas Peninsula is breathtaking in its beauty. It is a conservation area and quite unspoilt. It is not difficult to get here from Paphos. You just find the Polis road and stick to it. About 40 minutes later you arrive in Polis and a few minutes later you are in Laatchi.

Laatchi has a lovely marina. It is so relaxing to just sit along the marina edge with the dramatic backdrop of the mountains in the distance sloping down to the sea and absorb the peace and tranquility of the bay. The sea always seems to have a magnificent blue color here.

Well, as we said, these 4 ideas will give your holiday in Paphos a nice edge, with great memories to take home.

Apart from these 4 suggestions, there are many, many more activities you can enjoy, particularly a grand variety of water sports.

If you are curious about holidays to Cyprus Paphos, hopefully this article has aroused your appetite enough to encourage you to make concrete plans here and now.
