What Is An Oxygen Bar For Those Who Are Curious?

by Arren Weathers

An oxygen bar is one of those things that you don't hear much about hardly. It is also something that people may not know that much about either. What is an oxygen bar for those who are curious? Any oxygen bar is first of all, not a place to do any drinking, nor does it have alcohol in it. If anything it is a place of business, or part of an establishment, which handles the selling of oxygen for recreational use only. There are flavored scents that can be customized individually to make the whole experience all the more enjoying for a person. Therefore, it is something that is definitely enhancing in description, and these flavored scents are something that is also available at these oxygen bars in addition.

An oxygen bar has these particular flavors on hand and they come through the bubbling oxygen in bottles that have aromatic solutions within them. These flavors can be smelled before the oxygen does enter the nostrils. A lot of oxygen bars do use particles of food-grade or aroma oils to create these very unique scents for the bubbling oxygen.

There have been very early references made in history to the use of oxygen bars. The first reference was back in 1776 when Thomas Henry did openly speculate that Joseph's Priestley's newest invention called dephlogisticated air, which is now referred to as oxygen, would go on to be a hit in fashionable taverns and be as popular as French wine. Nonetheless, this man would have never thought that people who went to taverns to drink would not be calling for Claret. They would instead be calling for a bottle of oxygen. Another reference to using recreational oxygen is in Jules Verne's novel from 1870 called Around The Moon. It is the author himself who talks about recreational oxygen by stating about a curious form of establishment that has rooms of oxygen where people with weakened systems could escape to for a few hours of active life.

The use of an oxygen bar is said to have lots of health benefits attached to it. These health benefits do range from being able to remove toxins from the body to strengthening the immune system to lessening stress to improving concentration to curing cancer. Oxygen bars are also claimed to be able to reduce the effects that go along with headaches, hangovers, and sinus issues. It is also said to increase energy levels, make a person more alert, and bring relaxation to a body.

Despite the health benefits that is alleged to be attributed to an oxygen bar. There is the flip side of the coin which says use of oxygen bars can be dangerous. This is especially true for those who have asthma and emphysema. People that suffer from these medical conditions should not inhale high levels of oxygen. The very same can be said in addition about those who have COPD. Because it can cause carbon dioxide narcosis in those with this health issue. So, there is a good side, as well as a bad side in everything.

The idea for the oxygen bar came from Japan in the 1990s and the very first oxygen bar called the 02 Spa Bar opened up in 1996 in Toronto, Canada. This oxygen trend carried over into the United States and by the late 1990s. There was oxygen bars in use in states such as California, New York, Florida, Las Vegas, and places in the Rocky Mountain region of America. An oxygen bar can also be found in different businesses from nightclubs to health spas to restaurants to bars to airports and beyond. Even in some countries, recreational oxygen comes available in cans, which can be bought at some stores.

Recreational oxygen can give a feeling of euphoria. This is what a lot of people like to get as the effect of it from use. One reason why many do frequent an oxygen bar to get the bubbling and scented oxygen for themselves. While others are seeking the not scientifically proven yet health rewards that it is alleged to have.
