HAWAII SELF STORAGE ANNOUNCES TWO NEW FACILITIES
HAWAII SELF STORAGE
HONOLULU - www.hawaiiselfstorage.com - Hawaii Self Storage today announced plans to build two, new state-of-the-art storage facilities in Mililani and Kapolei, adding to the three current locations in Salt Lake, Pearl City and Kaimuki. The Mililani location is expected to break ground in mid-May at the intersection of Wikao and Akamainui Streets. The Kapolei location is expected to break ground in late May or June on Kalaeloa Boulevard between Home Depot and K-Mart.
The new Hawaii Self Storage-Mililani consists of a three-story, 98,700-square-foot main building with two incubator buildings of 7,500 square feet and 3,750 square feet, respectively; the facility is expected to open in Spring 2008 and will house approximately 1,575 climate-controlled units ranging from 25 to 375 square feet. The facility will also feature the latest in high-tech security systems, including individual locker alarms, 24-hour access, covered drive-in parking and unloading, and 24-hour security provided by more than 65 surveillance cameras and on-site staffing.
The new Hawaii Self Storage-Kapolei is a three-story, 113,400-square-foot facility expected to also open in Spring 2008 and will house approximately 1,270 climate-controlled units ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. This facility, too, will feature the latest in high-tech security systems, including individual locker alarms, 24-hour access, covered drive-in parking and unloading, and 24-hour security provided by more than 75 surveillance cameras and on-site staffing. Both locations are designed by Kober-Hanssen-Mitchell Architects.
The locations also will feature mosaics hand-crafted by local artist Leah Rigg. The Kapolei location will chronicle sugar cane production in Hawaii set against the Waianae Mountain range in a series of five large panels, while the Mililani location will highlight Hawaii's pineapple production history with two smaller-sized panels.
These are the fourth and fifth self-storage facilities built from the ground up by local development company MW Group, Ltd. The company currently operates Hawaii Self Storage-Salt Lake, an 180,000-square-foot facility in Mapunapuna, Hawaii Self Storage-Pearl City, a 120,000-square-foot facility and Hawaii Self Storage-Kaimuki, a 171,000-square-foot facility that opened earlier this year. MW Group plans to operate a total of eight self-storage facilities on Oahu by 2008.
"We have long realized that there is a great need for modern storage facilities in Hawaii due to smaller homes, limited garage space and no attics or basements," said Mike Wood, principal, MW Group, Ltd. "This is why we are committed to building more state-of-the-art, purpose-built, self-storage facilities around Hawaii to meet the demands of local residents and businesses. Our two newest Hawaii Self Storage locations will continue to offer the very best in service and amenities that customers enjoy at other facilities."
Like other MW Group self-storage facilities, both Hawaii Self Storage-Mililani and Hawaii Self Storage-Kapolei will offer customers free use of a state-of-the-art business center featuring Internet access, phone and fax lines, personal laptop data ports, copy machines, and a conference room. Both locations will continue the Hawaii Self Storage tradition of providing impeccable customer service, free estimates, free customer pickup, and free package receiving and forwarding.
"Being a locally owned company, giving back to those communities we serve is of paramount importance," said Hawaii Self Storage General Manager Daniel Ho. "That's why we will continue our tradition of supporting the communities we serve, by expanding our outreach programs. For example, we are adding Mililani Mauka, Wheeler, Makakilo and Kapolei elementary schools to include them in our Lockers for Literacy program for 2008."
