by Hype Williams

After you have completed training at a cosmetology school, you are on your way to working at beauty salons to start your career. But, you will need to find a good cosmetology school that has a good reputation with great instructors. This can be for anyone that needs a career change or who is starting up their career. You will find that these schools keep up with the trends in this changing world. You will learn so many things when it comes to beauty that the hardest part will be trying to decide if you want to be a hairdresser, cosmetologist, esthetician, or a nail technician.

With this field, there will be plenty of opportunities as men, women, teens and kids want to have that great hair style, have a great manicure or pedicure and have great skin in todays world. You will be able to work at a hair and nail salon, a spa, resort, or even in the fashion industry putting on makeup for famous celebrities or models.

You will appreciate the training that is involved to make you successful. Most of these programs will enable you to learn how to cut hair, straighten, highlighting techniques, perms including waving and relaxing, coloring, shampooing and styling, skin care plus facial treatments along with makeup applications, manicures and pedicures. In addition to the core requirements, there are also many courses in first aid, chemistry, nutrition, product education, anatomy and physiology that are offered or required for students. Also, supplementary training in legal and ethical issues of cosmetology, business, communication and training in salon software might also be included in that line-up of courses.

Usually the number of hours that are included in cosmetology programs range from 1,000 to 1,500 hours. Of course, this will depend on the location that you attend school and what is required by state law, regulations and requirements. If you think about it, it will take you less than a year to complete training as opposed to going to a traditional college that can take four or five years. Once you are through with your training, you will receive a diploma or certificate from that school. Then, when you are ready, you will be required to take a State Board Examination. This is required for most states. You will be totally prepared with that exam due to the quality training from beauty school programs and other training programs. You will make a great salary along with great tips from your clientele. When you have decided to start your career or make that big career change, find a great cosmetology school and you will be on your way to work at some great beauty salons.
