Anthracnose or Leaf Blight:
This disease is caused by a specie of fungus that infiltrates the tree and causes death of the leaves. The preliminary signs of this disease are dark blotches or dead areas on the leaves. Trees like white oak and sycamore are especially susceptible to this infection.
Armillaria Root Rot:
This is also a fungal disease. It affects not only trees but also forbs, vines and shrubs. This disorder kills the trees that have been already weakened by other diseases or bug infestations. It also attacks the healthy trees and either kills them or leaves them prone to being killed by other things such as bug infestation or climatic changes.
It is almost impossible to fully destroy fungus because it is in every environment and spreads very fastly. Despite the fact that it cannot be entirely killed, its increase can be controlled. Chemicals such as chloropicrin, methyl bromide and carbon disulfide can help in controlling the increase in fungus.
Aspen Canker:
One of the most common tree diseases is aspen canker. The trees which have been wounded usually become victims of this illness. This disease not only kills the strong interior heartwood but also the inner softer sapwood layers. The unfortunate thing about is that this disease cannot be completely cured. Chemical fumigants can assist in controlling this disease.
Diplodia Blight:
In this infection the fungus initially attacks the new leaves and growths. Then it slowly increases to killing the big and small branches. At last the whole tree dies. This illness is spread through the reproductive spores of the fungus. The airborne spores can carry this disorder to the nearby trees.
Oak Wilt:
It is a deadly disorder caused by the fungus. This disease attacks the trees that have wounds. The infected roots of the tree can cause this disease to spread to other trees. The insects that burrow into the wounds can also cause the spread of this illness.
