Golf Break UK

by Christene Morgan

Golf is a stimulating game, which is relaxing and challenging at the same time. Golf involves getting out in the fresh air in pleasant surroundings, and is an excellent way of exercising, as an average 18 holes usually involves walking between six and seven kilometres. Golfers take their sport very seriously indeed and often travel far to find the right spot to play their favourite sport.

There are many opportunities for a golf break all over Europe. Spain, Portugal and France boast many golf courses with a warm climate. Many foreigners head to Scotland and Ireland to tee off, however England has the most unique topographical variation of golf courses. There are several golf courses situated in some of the most idyllic locations throughout England – each year seems to establish a new area as a desired golfing break location.

In West Country, there are golf courses in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire. Dorset in the South Coast, has become very popular for golf breaks – with golf courses in close proximity to one another. In recent years, The Midlands has become one of the most popular golfing break destinations, with a number of decent courses easily accessible from all corners of the country. There are also several recommended golf courses in the North of England – in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Isle of Man and more.

Golf is such a unique all round sport and can be played by people of all ages. It can be played alone or in groups, and at different levels – social and competitive. There are very few other sports that provide all these features, so it is hardly surprising that golf breaks are very popular in the UK.

Several hotels have capitalised on this need, and have come up with the perfect solution – hotels with golf courses! This way you can enjoy an entire weekend out with family – whilst they relax in the hotel and enjoy nearby attractions, you can opt to stretch your legs and practice your shots on the golf course! Alternatively, you could even teach your kids how to play golf on an amateur course during your holiday.

A golf break at a golf course hotel is also an ideal way to enjoy a corporate day – you can have a staff meeting in the hotel and adjourn to play a few rounds of golf. Whether you are conducting business, or simply indulging in your passion, a golf break is a superb way to rejuvenate and get along with your colleagues and family.
