The Rich Janitor Affiliate Marketing Course and the Google Slap

by Janice Richardson

One measure for how well the Rich Janitor course is in introducing beginners to profitable affiliate marketing techniques is the dreaded Google Slap. The Google Slap refers to the habit that Google Adwords has of removing your ads from its rotation if, in the opinion of its editors and/or mathematical formulas, your site(s) do not adequately meet their “quality” guidelines.

This is relevant to The Rich Janitor course for this reason: The Rich Janitor actually provides you with downloadable landing pages... BUT... these very landing pages now apparently violate one of Google’s ever-changing rules for what is a “quality” site. In other words, if you install one of the Rich Janitor’s landing pages on your site, and use Google Adwords to promote it, you’ll likely get “slapped.”

In the old days, circa 2006, the Google Slap merely meant that the cost for Google Adwords went up from, say, 10 cents per click to $5.00. These days Google simply stops running your ads altogether.

For example, I installed one of the Rich Janitor’s landing pages and started copying the Rich Janitor’s suggested Google Adwords PPC campaigns. I couldn’t believe the results: The Click-Through Rate (CTR) was amazing (6.7%)... the conversion rate was impressive (5.8%) and the Return on Investment was fantastic (250%). I was spending around $20 a day on Google Adwords and netting $77. A profitable campaign. My only problem was getting more clicks.

Then came the dreaded Google Slap! I got an email from Google saying that one of my sites didn’t meet Google’s quality score. Specifically, I had a banned “affiliate site without relevant and original content that are designed to drive traffic to another site with a different domain.” This was my “final” warning (actually, my only warning) and I had to immediately correct it or my account would be summarily suspended.

Well. I guess I’m now an affiliate marketer. The good news is that the Rich Janitor course does not depend upon using its landing pages. I quickly changed my site from the landing page the Rich Janitor gave me to a blog... and then wrote some original articles about the product I was promoting. I then replied to the email I received from Google and asked them to reevaluate my site for its quality score.

But here’s my point: All this truly demonstrates how quickly the Rich Janitor course materials catapult you into the bigger leagues in terms of affiliate marketing. Almost overnight, I went from being unable to make money with Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising to making around 250% ROI. I couldn’t believe it. The Rich Janitor course taught me how to get incredibly high CTRs and drive traffic to my site. I just had to learn that, when dealing with Google, you have to be flexible and adjust to their ever-changing rules about quality scores.

I learned more in a week with the Rich Janitor than I have in six months experimenting on my own. That’s why I can heartily recommend this program for the advanced beginner to intermediate affiliate or Clickbank marketer. Just don’t use the Rich Janitor’s landing pages on your sites. You’ll make money... but you’ll get slapped!
