A play based in the turbulent times of 1950's, Memphis is a musical about the birth of rock 'n' roll. It played to a sold out audience in Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre and is not only critically acclaimed but also boasts of some extremely popular musical numbers.

Memphis is the story of the protagonist, Huey Calhoon, a young white radio disc jockey who lives in Memphis, Tennessee during the 1950's. All this turns him into an unlikely hero. This is interwoven with his love interest with a beautiful black singer, with dramatic consequences for all concerned.
The main attraction of the show is gospel, early rock n roll, rhythm and blues and music and lyrics by David Bryan (founding member of Bon Joyi) and lyrics by Joe DiPietro.
Memphis received a Craig Noel Award (San Diego) for Excellence in Theatre for Outstanding New Musical of 2008 as well as the award for its star Chad Kimball, who plays Huey Calhoon.
The show has performed successfully at sold out engagements in La Jolla Playhouse as well as other theatres. On Broadway, the show is produced by Junkyard Dog Productions and Barbara and Buddy Freitag, in association with Marleen and Kenny Alhadeff, Demos Bizar Entertainment and Dancap Productions.
