Why should I consider buying an alarm clock?

by Clark Haroldson

Let’s face it without an alarm clock most of us would never get up in the morning. My Dad used to say, “I go to bed at night and say to myself, Harold! Wake up at six thirty in the morning, I bang my head three times on the pillow and then fall asleep, and in the morning I always wake up on time”. Well I tried his method and all I got was earache from my boss in the morning for being late for work! I would suspect that you are probably like me and will also need an alarm clock. That is if you NEED to get up in the morning at all. So let’s assume you need an alarm clock the first thing to do is to consider what kind you want and what features would be especially useful to you. If you have a partner you might want to consider an alarm clock with dual alarms. You can actually set separate times to wake up if you have different working schedules. Your settings can include different music selections, tones, and of course times. You can also choose how you want to be woken up. Some people love music to wake up to, others need a loud ringing noise or they won’t wake up at all. It’s your choice, individualized settings for each of you now that’s unique. So waking up in the morning can now be considered a unique experience. There are even more options today with something as straight forward as volume. My son could never get up in the morning so what I had to do with him was to put a loud ringing alarm clock on top of a large tin lid several feet away from his bedside so when that annoying ring began in the morning and woke him up he had to get out of bed and cross the room to stop it. This method had him out of bed and on his way to the shower before he realized it. So nowadays you can start your ascending volume quietly and then if you don’t wake up and shut it off it just gets louder and louder till you can’t stand it any longer. I could have done with one of those for my son I can tell you Other features you might want to consider when buying an alarm clock might be one that includes a radio or perhaps even a CD player. Short or poorly sighted people can even buy an alarm clock that will project the time on the wall in great big letters. As you give due consideration to all the features you might want keep in mind the alarm clock is probably the first thing you will see in the morning everyday of your life for the next few years, (apart form the wife of course). So make sure that it is fairly good to look at. So if you’ve got time on your hands (and on your mind) then get cracking study the features and go and purchase your super duper alarm clock.
