Former Packers Highlight Reggie White Golf Outing
Two former Green Bay Packer stars are scheduled to participate in the 2008 Reggie White Sleep Disorders Research and Education Foundation Golf Outing on Sept. 23 at Hawks View Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wis.
LeRoy Butler, a Packer Hall of Famer who invented the "Lambeau Leap" on Dec. 26, 1993, and wide receiver and now golf long drive champion Bill Schroeder will both be on hand to make this fundraising event extra special for attendees. Reggie, of course, suffered from obstructive sleep apnea, which was considered a major factor in his tragic, premature death. The Foundation now works to educate all people about sleep disorders and to provide diagnosis and care to people in southeastern Wisconsin whose socio-economic status would otherwise make access to needed care impossible.
LeRoy started the Green Bay traditional touchdown leap after taking a lateral from (who else?) Reggie White and dashing in to score. Since that day, most Packer TDs at home have been celebrated with the leap into the waiting arms of Packer fans. LeRoy will play with the event's title sponsor foursome.
Bill did a good share of Lambeau Leaps himself. These days, in addition to a job in healthcare, he spends his time hitting some the longest drives you're ever going to see. In addition to playing with the dinner sponsor foursome, Bill will perform a trick shot exhibition and will hit his longest drive on one hole ... and then all foursomes can choose (for a small fee donated to the Foundation, of course) to use his drive as their own. Even a true championship course like Hawks View may wilt under one of Bill's 350-400 yard drives! Bill welcomes invitations to participate in golf events and can be reached at BillSchroeder84@yahoo.com.
Many local sports and television celebrities will also participate. If you'd like more information on the event, click here.
