How to Apply For a Student Loan
Financing college through a student loan can be terrifying for people. A student loan can be the cause of a number of nightmares. Me for instance, I was so worried I would not qualify; I almost chose not to apply for a scholarship, grant and loan. Thank goodness I looked into the process more carefully because I learned so much about the entire process.
As if starting college is not scary enough, students have to worry about money and finances in a way that they never have before in their lives. A student loan can be one of the most intimidating factors about college, before, during and afterwards. Try not to stress, and just decide on a financial goal. Set a budget and figure out how much you will need each quarter or semester (depending on your school.)
Once you figure out how much you need, apply through FAFSA online for your student loan. It is a fairly simple process as long as you have all the information they are asking you to give them. For a student loan, everyone must go through FAFSA and the best way to do it is on the internet.
Get together all of your financial documents and find out the information you need about your parents. The process for the student loan is as simple as you want it to be. If you choose to apply for work study or scholarships, it is a whole different ball game than a student loan. There are completely different forms and processes to go through. They are not that bad either though. Just sit down and do it all in one weekend and you will be ready to go.
A student loan is necessary for almost every student whether they know it or not. Books, school supplies and food on top of tuition can really add up each semester. Add it all up per year and you really can see how costly the college process can be for you or your parents. Remember, parents can also apply for a student loan on your part. They use the same FAFSA form. If your parents need more money than your student loan allows, they can always look into a home equity loan. It is easy to qualify, granted they must own a home, and it is also tax-deductible. Many families find it to be a great way to go since the rate is lower than most other student loan rates.
