Experts say that there are so many causes for foot pain. Some of which are common and can be avoided by simply changing various foot habits. But, there are also severe causes that should not be ignored because these may lead to serious foot complications.
The following are some of the factors that contribute to the major causes for foot pain.
1. Shoes. Studies show that one of the major causes of most foot pains is ill-fitting pair of shoes. For women, high-heeled pair of shoes is the number culprit for foot pain because the pressure is concentrated on the toes and the arch of the feet especially when the heels are too high. Aside from the extended pressure, high heels can also cause tripping and mat lead to major foot problems such as sprain or broken ankle. For men, improper fit of shoes also contribute a lot to foot pain because ill-fitting shoes cannot withstand the their weight and the pressure they exert in walking.
2. Drastic changes in foot size and shape. Although the feet is considered as one of the "most sturdiest" parts of the human anatomy for enduring so much weight and pressure, there are instances that it also feels pain especially if the person undergoes to drastic changes in shoe size and shape this is because the feet is not given enough time to adjust.
3. Temperature. Drastic change in temperature—especially if it is caused by the weather—also lead to foot pain. Experts say that the changes in weather can greatly affect the feet because it can contract when the weather is too cold and can expand if the weather is too hot. Since a person's feet can change in shape and increase in size by as much as 5 percent depending on his or her activity, wearing shoes that fit perfectly can solve this problem.
4. Poor posture. Improper walking due to poor posture is one of the major causes that cause foot pain. Experts encourage people to develop good posture because this can veer them away from various foot problems.
5. Various medical conditions. Illness or any medical condition that is result to imbalance and poor circulation of blood can greatly contribute to foot pain. Make sure that you visit a doctor once you experience foot pain because this may be an indicator of a more serious health condition.
6. Family history. Some of the causes of various foot pains and problems can be inherited. People who experience some foot problems are likely to have parents that have abnormalities in their legs or feet that cause foot pain.
7. High-impact exercising. One of the reasons why people experience foot pain is by indulging to high-impact exercising that include jogging, strenuous aerobics and prolonged brisk walking because these can injure the feet and can lead to excruciating foot pain.
8. Cumulative stress from the industry or the working environment. Foot pain can stem from work-related repetitive stress.
9. Stress fracture. This usually leads to painful forefoot and immediate bone scan is needed to determine the status of the fracture right away.
10. Other health conditions. Gout, arthritis and nerve root compression are just some of the causes for foot pain because these affect the feet's nerves, thus, causing it not to function properly.
