Holiday booking guidelines

Things to think about when booking your holiday

by Ben Snape

With official figures some way off, the general feeling in the hotels and holidays trade is that, like Majorca, an increase in the number of visitors compared to 2006 is likely.

The first hotel to cater for tourists dates back as far as 1903 when the Grand opened her doors for business, the first of many hotels in Majorca to spring up between now and then. There is a wide selection of hotels available to suit every taste and budget, ranging from the most luxurious hotels and large chain hotels, to smaller inexpensive lodgings.

In recent years there has been a massive construction boom with new hotels and housing complexes springing up all over the world. The amenities at such hotels and resorts include a wide variety of cuisines, from the famous adobo to Italian fare orchestrated by foreign chefs.

Plan your trip thoroughly and try to find locations that offer green travel opportunities, look for hotels that follow the basic rules of environment friendliness.

Avoid booking hotels that are located in the heart of the city- they will almost certainly charge you a high premium for the convenience. US Dollars are accepted widely and major credit cards may be accepted in hotels, restaurants and some shops.

There is enough on-line support available for those who might be willing to book their accommodation on-line.
