Recognizing A Pregnancy Symptom
NOT available to public
What should I look for as a pregnancy symptom? Well, the obvious would be the enlarging of the belly. However, this does not usually occur until the middle of the pregnancy period, as well as later on during the pregnancy. Here are some of the usual symptoms and signs that help tell if a woman is pregnant?
While a blood test is still the most accurate and efficient way of determining pregnancy, most women will usually notice and feel specific symptoms prior to taking a blood test to determine pregnancy.
The following signs can each be considered a pregnancy symptom and may help to determine if you are pregnant, even though they are not really conclusive. They are significent enough to tell you it is time to visit your doctor.
Pregnancy Basics
Approximately four days after egg fertilization, the egg cell begins to produce an hCG hormone called human chotionic gonadotropin. This may be the earliest sign of a possible pregnancy, and could be easily detected in the blood and in the urine.
When The Breasts Become Tender
In a matter of days many women will usually report a certain sensitivity, or tenderness in their breasts. This may also include a fullness and heaviness feel. About two weeks after conception has occurred, the areolas will begin to enlarge.
Spotting
While spotting during pregnancy is similar to that during a menstrual period, it is quite different. Spotting, when a pregnancy symptom, is usually mixed with a yellowish discharge, and a minimal amount of bleeding. Pregnancy spotting occurs when the developing egg implants itself to the walls of the uterus.
Fatigue
During the early part of pregnancy changes are occurring in your body that can leave you feeling tired, and with little ambition. In some cases it can even be difficult trying to stay awake.
Nausea, or Morning Sickness
What is commonly referred to as morning sickness is not really limited to the morning. This feeling of nausea may occur anytime during the day or night. This pregnancy symptom has been described as similar to the feeling of seasickness, or a stomach virus. However, some women who become pregnant never experience this so called morning sickness.
Bloating
Most women compare this symptom to the bloating associated with pre-menstrual period. However, in this case, the period never arrives.
Frequent Urination
This pregnancy symptom is an obvious one. When frequent urination occurs, and you feel you have to go to the bathroom considerably more than what is normal for you, then you may be pregnant. This symptom may first occur early on in a pregnancy and may also return during the pregnancy’s last trimester.
The Pelvic Ligaments Become Stretched Believe it or not; it is normal during pregnancy for the size of the uterus to stretch up to one thousand times more that its usual pre-pregnancy size. To give this some perspective, think of a pear growing to the size of a basketball. Many women report that they believe they have actually felt the ligaments in their pelvis stretch making ample room for growth to occur.
Food Cravings
If you suddenly find yourself craving various foods such as fruits, meat (even if you may be a vegetarian), chips, fries, etc., do not worry. When it comes to this pregnancy symptom, it's probably not just you, it is the pregnancy. Being pregnant may increase one’s craving for food that in high in vitamin c, salt, and iron.
All in all, the experience of pregnancy is a very divine, scary, joyful and glorious event that should be given the appropriate attention and caution that it rightfully deserves. After all, the opportunity to bring a human being into the world with acceptance and love, is quite an honor.
