Do people hate their JOBS? Let’s Find Out
Are you one of the 35-60% of the individuals who hates his or her job? Well, you’re not alone! Nearly 60 out of a hundred people can’t stand hitting that time clock. You 9 to 5ers ages 25 to 54 dislike your job the most.
People over 55 have a greater liking for and confidence in their positions. And these are the people who will be retiring in ten or fifteen years. Perhaps that is why they can ‘afford’ liking their jobs. Looking forward to retirement could certainly cloud their judgment. People under 55 often do not work in an environment to their liking.
Education level could play a part in the results. Education level generally runs parallel with income. If you are better educated you will be hired in positions with greater salaries. The lease satisfied workers are those making the least money.
If you are earning $20,000 or below a year you tend to be unhappy in regards to your job. Now, if you are among those making $50,000 or above you are much more content. You should be able to pay your bills and depending on your budgeting skills you may even have a bit left over to play with. Since the cost of living rises much more successfully then wages, people in lower income brackets will have almost no disposable income. Less money = NO play!
Geography is yet another influential factor in job satisfaction. People living in the northeast states such as New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, have the highest dislike for their jobs. If I had to guess I would say people in metropolis areas such as these hate the drive to their jobs as much as the work itself.
Commuting can be a major pitfall to work in such places, as well as their actual living space. When they finally get home from work they arrive there with very little space apart from the next guy or gal. In the major cities tiny, cramped apartments are the norm. I’m talking thousands of people living on one city block! This is not always the optimum way to live.
There are several states that offer that wide-open-space feel to them; places like Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Guess what?! These are the states ranked highest for job satisfaction. People who live in these places tend to love their jobs. Why? Because of all that wonderful space! Space to work, space to live, and of course space to play!
So, think about all the facets of your life. Do some real soul searching and be honest with yourself. Do you hate your job? If so ask yourself why. Do you hate the job itself? Do you dislike or even hate your co-workers? So many variables come into play with this I-hate-my-job syndrome. Could be you just really don’t like your boss, and there are ways of fixing that (www.cheeronlife.com). Before you quit your job take some time to consider what it really is that you dislike.
