Virtual Assistance – The Alternative to "Get Rich Quick" Home Based Business Schemes

by Kathy Sparks

Have you always wanted to work from your home office and have your own home-based Business? And, are you tired of reading about the "get rich quick" on-line schemes that you can do from your home office?

Virtual Assistance is honest work, you make money, you satisfy your work ethic needs, you stay at home, and you are helping others in their businesses - it's a win/win all the way around.

I literally "fell" into becoming a VA. How? At my company, in my cubical, trying to ignore the conversation in the next cubical about somebody's problem with her boss, I flipped through a magazine where I was doing some marketing research and there was an article about this new profession - Virtual Assistants. I liked what it said.

I couldn't wait until I got home so that I could do the research to find out if this was just one more get rich, work at home scheme, or if it was for real. It was for real and I've never looked back. Over six years and counting.

Why is being a Virtual Assistant a good business?

1. It's honest work, no gimmicks, no promises

2. You work with (not for) others who understand the concept of working "virtual."

3. It's an extension of what you've been doing at your "job"

4. If you love using software, it's for you

5. If you love learning new software, it's for you

6. You manage yourself

7. You are your own boss

8. You can schedule your time

9. You can charge what you are worth, not what someone thinks you are worth

10. It's job satisfaction without being at the job

11. You don't have to have a Masters degree or even a Bachelors degree

12. You have the freedom of choosing what to learn

13. You have the freedom of doing only the things that you love to do

14. You have the freedom of choosing whether to take a class or learn on your own

15. Incredible job satisfaction

AND, you have the freedom of saying "No" to the clients and/or projects that you don't want to do.

There are other advantages of this home based business.

1. You probably already have most of the equipment and software needed to begin your VA practice

2. You are no longer exposed to health issues of the workplace

3. You no longer have to deal with office politics, office gossip, hoping for a raise, competing for a job

4. You are not stuck in a pay grade that goes nowhere

5. You are not stuck in a job that has no career path

Being a Virtual Assistant allows you to make your own career path. If you are dynamic and interested in being the best, you can be by learning the ways of high level Virtual Assistants. Or, if you are satisfied with your current situation, you are free to stay right where you. The most important requirement is the desire and the ability to drive yourself, for no one will be there to make you successful.
